I don't get to watch this until Friday, but I see the Kick the Kurt is swiftly approaching Kick the Chloe levels (from Smallville).
I understand showrunners wanting to get the most emotional depth from their best characters, but it really is getting ridiculously silly now. There's only so much crap they can pile on any one character before (a) that person goes completely crazy, or (b) it throws me out of the story because it's just so obvious that plot & character development have gone out the window. And sadly I'm at Option 2 now, because I find myself not caring about anyone's journey anymore, and just watching for the singing & dancing. For a show that started with so much promise, this is such a shame and a real letdown.
I think the episode ignored/overlooked some really good parallels they barely only touched on - namely, that the Glee kids aren't a really good family and are massively stepping up mow because they've failed two of their members before. Have a scene cutting Quinn and Kurt talking about how they struggled on their own or the glee kids talking about failing them and wanting to be there for Santana. Gah! I mean, they talked about it briefly, but for me that's a much more believable reason for why Finn cares now about Santana (especially with the way she's been behaving this season

This would have made a whole lot of sense for Finn or another character to mention before the onslaught of Santana week. Honestly, that seems like such a terrible idea for her character, with all the defenses she has.
Since they're voting, it should be early November for their timeline… Maybe he's just missing early deadlines now. He could still get into a community production of Rent and apply to a bunch of other schools. If I were him, I'd go the shotgun method and hit every school I had interest for in NY and then some in Ohio in case I wanted to transfer, and some in DC to be with dad. His dad didn't get a college degree. He's eligible for soem kind of aid.
They need to get him out of Lima. Badly.
Yeah, that line about finding Blaine. He gets to go hug his boyfran! AWWWW.
Good point about timing - sometimes I get confused. Given it's election season, you're right, it's probably the first week of November there (which makes me question HOW did they stage WWS already? That's like a month total of rehearsal, set creation, costume creation, and auditions).
I had my one dream college, but that didn't stop me from having about 20 other applications ready in case I didn't get in early. Hope Kurt is realistic enough to realize he has other options - it's a sucky way to think, but sadly necessary if you want to have options.
In a sensible world, even though his guidance counselor is of absolutely no help, Blaine and Rachel should at least know that they should apply to other schools, and they can help each other find a good number to research. This plotline is stupid and dangerous for kids. Honestly.
I don't even know. They seemed to have Rocky Horror in the bag in a week. *shrug* Maybe they'll do a Spring musical, too.
I am habitually annoyed by the lazy, inconsistent writing on Glee but last night's ep just upped the shittiness to new heights. It was downright offensive. The only good things about that hot mess were: 1 - Kurt and Blaine singing perfect 2 - Santana's scene with her abuela 3 - SupportiveBoyfriend!Blaine
That's probably a good idea. Why are the writers so damn LAZY? Can't they sit down and think about what characters need to be connecting due to certain plots?
I agree that it was a good song choice, and it was good to hear Dot sing, but honest to Gaga, why did that plot have to be crammed together with everything else

Because we disagreed on a lot things and focused on different aspects of the ep. I meant it as, "Ooh, yay, DISCUSSION"!
The Katy Perry thing was the main thing. I'm not familiar enough with her body of work to know about any homophobia in her songs (I only know the ones on the radio, and maybe not even all of THOSE), so that isn't coloring my opinion. Also, I'm looking at the song from a different perspective. To me it's like, "I'm a girl who likes boys, but I can kiss a girl if I want to AND enjoy it and there's nothing wrong with that. And it's ok if I do it and it doesn't change anything (as in, I still only date men)." I don't know what she was intending for the message to be with some of the lyrics. I don't support the message that it's fun to kiss girls because it gets you attention or titillates men, which is one way ppl can interpret it. The whole line about It's not what good girls do I kinda read with tongue-in-cheek quotations around "good girls" because (some ppl would say) girls who

But my God, I just want to see a happy smile on his face, and more than just once a season!
