today's meme topic should actually require more of an answer than just a couple of sentences so long as i can get my brain to cooperate with me. we all know how picky it is. let's see if i can come up with something appropriate.

i have two brothers. older ones. yup. i'm the baby. and they treated me the way one would expect older brothers/siblings to treat their younger sister/sibling. they teased me mercilessly and had me doing things for them that they could have easily done themselves. chances are good that i had earned that treatment. mom told me that my dad made them clean my room for me until i was five years old. they might not have taken that so hard if i hadn't sat on my bed and laughed at them the whole time. but they also stuck up for me when someone decided to pick on me. when the neighborhood bullies killed my cat, my brothers went down the street and kicked the shit out of them.
my oldest brother is Eric. he was the jock of the three of us. he was co-captain of his football team his senior year. he played basketball and was on the track team. for a lot of years, he held the record in the shot put. he also sang in the choir and he took a wood shop class where he made a grandfather's clock. he was the popular one of us, with tons of friends and girls falling all over him. he went on to marry a girl that we all actually grew up with. Sandy was friends with my mom's youngest sister, who is only a year or so older than Eric. her sister Fay was friends with mom's second youngest sister, so Eric had known Sandy for a long time. they have a son, Tony, and a daughter, Brittany. and they're divorced. he's been a manager of a Domino's pizza store, he's owned a Quiznos sub shop and now, after school, he does computer stuff. he doesn't talk to us much anymore because he cycles through being mad at mom and then not. last i heard, he was dating a woman and contemplating marriage to her. but i don't know anymore. there is also a third child, older than Tony and Brittany. her name is Felicia and my understanding is he hasn't seen her in ages. that was her mom's doing. the woman was psycho. then again, so was Sandy. so... hmmmm.
the middle child and my other brother is Michael. we call him Mike more often than not. he was the brains. he played chess in elementary and he was damn good at it. he was also in choir and he played JV football in high school. Mike was kind of graceless. he's the one who broke his leg in five places playing hockey (got the blade of his skate caught in a crack in the ice). and he took a hockey puck to the mouth so he spent one Christmas with his jaw wired shut. broke his arm when someone hit him with a red rubber ball. they were playing smear the queer. if i remember, he graduated high school with honors. he got married to a girl he'd met when visiting Minnesota one time and they had two girls. Kathleen and Danielle. after 20 some years of marriage, Mike and DaVida got divorced. and he got married again to a woman from Bulgaria named Ekaterina. she prefers Kate. he's been to Europe several times and back. she's been here to the US a couple of times. mom got to meet her last year, i think, and she came back saying that they were talking about buying a house and having kids. i believe he's the happiest he's been in a long time.
i have no sisters. i was the last one. probably smart. cos, you know, i'm the black sheep of the family and it sounds like mom and dad had enough on their plates with the three of us.
both brothers live in Minnesota. sometimes i miss them. the last time i saw either one of them was when my grandmother died in 2001 (i think). sometimes i think i'd like to see them. then i remember how they treated me as a kid and i say fuck that.
