30 Day Fanfic Meme

Aug 08, 2011 20:21

ugh. i'm so damned far behind, it isn't even funny... i'd love the opportunity to do this day over, but something tells me it wouldn't get any better. i hate mondays...

but enough of that crap. let's get to the meme and see what kind of answer i can scrape up from the dregs of goo that is presently my brain. its so bloody hot out that i think i'm melting. then again, i am the wicked bitch of the... whatever place this is. other than hell. okay. i'm rambling. time to get to the answer.

1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
they drew me in, as a moth to a flame
2 - Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.
my homes away from home
3 - For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?
you're such a character
4 - Do you have a "muse" character that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn't about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?
pushy, pushy
5 -If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?
with a firm hand
6 - When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?
either or
7 - Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
can you change my mind?
8 - Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they're not Mary Sues. And if not, explain your thoughts on OCs.
she's so original
9 - Pairings - For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?
i'm only going to list the ones i named and not dig into all of the crap in my head because... really, we'd be here all freaking day. and i'm going to do something a little different here. i'm going to do pairings with canon characters only and then i'm going to do pairings with both canon and non-canon characters. should make for some interesting answers.

Harry Potter: hmmm. in HP, i think my favorite pairings involving canon characters together would have to be the following: Snape and Harry. yes, i'm sure there are those of you out there who are groaning at that. they're enemies and they wouldn't ever hook up. they might not ever love one another, but its entirely possible that they could hook up for some serious hate sex.  Lucius and Harry. yes. another one of those that shouldn't happen pairings. but if its done right, those two are so sexy together. it could be hate sex. it could be something with more meaning. Lucius is ever an opportunistic son of a bitch. and finally, i think i'd have to go with Harry and Draco. even more hate sex. though i don't think there's anything that couldn't be settled between the two of them. seriously. then again, maybe its something to do with my fixation with dark and light. i could name a few other pairings, but i think that's enough from canon for now.

now, as to a canon character with an OC... this one gets trickier because much of my experience with this type of pairing is the stuff i've written myself. for starts, the first one on this list would have to be Severus and Kendra, from my very first fan fic. those two are just... awesome! totally awesome together. Kendra is smart and conniving. she knows how to keep Severus happy and in line. hmmm. let's see. who else? i have to say that i do like any of the pairings Daz has going on in the Mary Sue Virus. she's managed to get the characters she and the others created to fit so well into the world. and they're excellent matches for the canon characters they're paired with. to be honest, i like to see Snape with just about any original character, so long as he or she is well written and a good compliment to him.

Marvel: i'm going to do Marvel on a whole instead of breaking it down into the different little corners of their vast universe. i don't know if i've ever actually written in just one corner of the Marvel U. it seems silly to try and break the pairings down by those corners when i keep crossing lines. so for the canon pairings...  Clint and Johnny. yeah. i love those two together. all kinds of hot and sexy with extra helpings of dirty on the side. Clint and Steve. oh man. isn't that just all hot and steamy? teacher and pupil steaming up the showers and pretending that nothing is going on with them. god damn, that's a great image. i might have to go look at that fic again. and then i guess the last one is Tony and Steve. (don't roll your eyes at me, Daz!) this one mostly because i haven't really done any other pairings so far. and, really, the notorious rake and the boy next door. what isn't there to like about that pairing?

for the non-canon and canon pairings... i love writing Lia and Clint. as i've told Daz on more than one occasion, those two are some great love affair and writing them together is so awesome. granted, i've only done it once, but i like to think i did it well enough for her. but seriously, the two of them are so amazing together. through thick and thin. then there's Mystery and Clint. oh man. they fit so well together. they really do. and they are an unending source of amusement for Jen. and finally, i think the next pairing is going to have to be Dare and Tony. granted, its the past versions of them, but those two are literally oil and water with one another. but the sex is always good after the fact. and the two of them do love one another, even if they never, ever say it.

Anita Blake and Merry Gentry: these are harder to do mostly because there's one female to the millions of men. so... we'll go this route. for Anita Blake, there's Jean Claude and Asher. those two. seriously. how can they not be sexy together? then Nathaniel and Asher. cos... gods. the whole BDSM thing they've got going on. and then there's Jason and Jean Claude. more sexy nummies to be had. as for Merry Gentry... ugh. i don't think i've written any canon pairings here. not that i've really written canon pairings for AB, though i've mentioned Jean Claude and Asher in passing.

for non-canon and canon pairings... in Anita Blake, i love the Edward and Gabe pairing i did. i really liked those two together. she was everything he fought against, and yet she was exactly what he needed. it wasn't meant to be more than a one shot, but i love the way it turned out.  then there's Asher and Janika. i love the way those two play off one another. i think she makes him feel more confident in himself, makes him feel less monstrous. more human despite his long life as a vampire. and she shows that everything she was taught by her family was suspect and questionable just by being with him. she proves that not everyone who is taught to hate feels that doing so is the only choice they have. and lastly, there's Aedan and Jean Claude. they haven't even had sex yet and still... they're so wrapped up in one another that it isn't even funny. he's got feelings for her when he doesn't think he should, because it hasn't been that long since Anita's death. and Aedan is trying so hard not to be Anita and yet do everything she did and do it better. all the while, she's telling herself that she doesn't need to be involved with Jean Claude. when she finally gives in to him... damn. watch out for those fireworks. as for Merry Gentry, i think i like writing Viola and Doyle, who are so dead set against what happened before and yet... damn. they can't keep their hands off one another. Starr and Rhys. that's a relationship that seems star crossed. not to coin any puns or anything. but when it finally happens, its going to be so good. and then there's Rae and Galen. the hardened warrior with the living embodiment of growth and forest and trees. life and death joined together by their emotions. how awesome is that?

and has anyone else noticed that my canon pairings all seem to be men with men? something funny there?
