The Sun Will Come Out

Sep 12, 2009 00:31

Thanks to the help of my sister, I feel a little less like jumping off the edge of the nearest cliff is a good option. I told her the full story (which I will not recount here, for it turns me into a wailing, hysterical thing full of rage and UGH NOT FAIR NOT FAIR), and she vowed to come out to my parent's house and yell at my former boss for me. I'm glad your sister was able to help you feel a bit better about things.

And, truthfully, most everyone does get fired once or twice. (I have and--well, I have.) As long as you have good references, you'll be fine. Put your co-workers instead of your boss on your resume if you have to. (I think telling someone NOT to contact an employer at all is not the best option.)

I feel validated. I feel like I'm worth something to someone.

You are and you are! And don't forget that! (Post it on your monitor if need be.)

Even if it's just cause every once in a while, I write a story in which the Doctor talks to his penis.
And for so much more than this, Chi. Think back to the "you're awesome" post. :)

I know you've probably heard it, but I discovered it fairly recently and it's perfect advice for a stressful life:
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept it; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenly and with too high a ( ... )

Sweet heart, remember in this economy everyone has to fear being laid off for unfair reasons. But being fired, is not easy to deal with, especially if its unfair. So don't hesitate to vent to those you trust. It really does help. maybe write so revenge fic where the Doctor defeats an enemy that bears a striking similarity to to your old boss.
Ayway, here's hoping that you land an even better job quickly.

**massive hugs** Sorry to hear you were fired. It sucks, believe me I know, and it's even worse if it the reasons are totally unfair.

I'll be sending you lots of luck and hoping that you get a better job soon! :)

Damn them! I just woke up and saw this. Would it help to know that about ten years ago I used to work for a large multinational corporation and I spent a couple of years involved with the Personnel Dept? Yes, it is not uncommon for people to get fired from some job or other. YES, we would hire them. Unless you have been embezzling from the company or have taken your colleagues hostage at some stage (oh wait, we *did* hire the guy who had previously had a breakdown and taken a few of his colleagues hostage in his office). This was a worldwide organisation, the largest in its field before it started selling bits of itself off, they could pick and choose who to hire and they chose based on *ability*, based on the *person* they met - not on their past. Whatever happened here today sounds like Personnel!Fail - they *hugged* you?? They made you feel like you had inconvenienced *them*?? Unprofessional, disempowering, wrong, wrong, wrong. I'm shaking here, really. I'm all the more angry because I've seen your posts and know you've had a hard ( ... )
