Well, that was an excellent essay. Definitely had some very strong points to the story of Beauty and the Beast in general. And I guess that after reading it, the love between Belle and the Beast was in fact unconditionally true love.
Thank you for this!!!!!!!!ext_3600541April 7 2016, 02:18:44 UTC
I was in a dispute about this a few days ago with a friend. I was saying how Belle didn't have Stockholm syndrome (with no way to back myself up since I didn't know much about the illness at the time) so the argument didn't go on for very long. I've been looking for a good article/essay/thing ever since we had the conversation and your essay WAS GREAT! So thank you for writing this, informing me, and giving me good information to use if this topic ever comes up again!! :)

I liked your article but I believe you missed an integral part of the psycological behind continued abuse and stockholme which comes with a benefit/reward system

The timeline of this movie is not about 6 months, it's more like 3 days (it's starts snowing the first night Belle is there).
"I feel the only true change might be when he Doesn't kill gaston"
Um, did you miss the scene where the Beast releases Belle? You know, right after the ballroom scene? He clearly wasn't expecting her to return because he was so surprised that she did at the end. Letting her o indicates a clear change on his part because he's putting her needs above his. He's essentially sacrificing his one last chance at being human again so she can be happy.
Also, it's worth noting that Belle technically only returns at the end to save the Beast from the mob storming the castle.
