you know, you have to tell that owner what happened, and get your money back, you worked for that, you wouldn't have done the work for free. No one should take that from you,
and if the money was in effect stolen from you (and the owner) by this unscrupulous person, shouldn't the owner know? You can't be the only one who was effected. If the truth comes to light and this person is harmed, it's not the whistle blower, they brought this on themselves.
In the past when I was treated badly, I was told to keep quiet, and not make waves, but why should people be rewarded for bad behavior? They never learn from it, they just keep taking more and more and more.
As an owner of a business I'd certainly want to know who couldn't be trusted, after all this time, it's not going to look vindictive on your part.
