Opening Checklist: Pray (Or, My Visit to the Legacy Pregnancy Resource Center)
I drove past it every time I went into Sheridan, WY for groceries, or to take the artists under my care shopping on our weekly Friday excursions. Cornered on the far side of Kendrick Park sat “LEGACY: Pregnancy Resource Center,” as advertised by an elegant, hanging wooden sign. Like the one I imagine in front of a funeral parlor.

It snowed last night. Or at least I thought it snowed. It was still dark when I woke up, so when I peaked outside I could just barely make out the darker dirt intermixed with the lighter snow. All day the sky has had a sci-fi look, like a rift has torn it open and it's another clear world we're seeing through. Every time I step out the clouds have changed, but that jagged rip of blue in white remains suspended over the brown fields and the snowed mountains. -
Reason # 534 why my Alma Mater is awesome
They feel that a fitting way to celebrate Remembrance/Veteran's Day is to post on the website a clip from the Doctor Who episode "Human Nature/The Family of Blood" the part where the Doctor and Martha pin red poppies to their lapels during a funeral. (The red poppy is a traditional sign of remembrance on this day in the UK.) -

Lion's Club
My evening. Dear lord, I don’t even know where to start. So I’ll start here: with the fruit jello squares. The fruit jello squares served on a limp leaf of lettuce for the salad course of our meal at the Big Horn Lion’s Club. The fruit jello squares with a squirt of mayonnaise on top.

Local Culture
At five thirty yesterday afternoon, my neighbor (and coworker) picked me up to drive into "town." I put town in quotes because usually town (sans quotes) refers to Sheridan, which is 27 miles away (pop 15,000). "Town" is Clearmont, only 10 miles away, but also with only a population of 115.

Moving the cattle
I am witnessing a great, true moment of the contemporary West. About ten minutes ago, the lowing of cattle became apparent. This is of course nothing new in rural Wyoming. Mirrors and Toothpaste
Sitting on the toilet she noticed in the reflection of the mirror above the bathtub a galactic spiral of toothpaste spots splashed up on the mirror that hung directly above the sink.
