On the Road Again!

Here I am in sunny St. Augustine, former capital of Spanish Florida! I've been away since Wednesday (but only able to get to a computer this morning), delivering Mission San Luis outreaches to various schools here in the St. Johns County area...and staying at my home-away-from-home here, the Pirate Haus! My job is truly marvelous. I could not imagine or invent anything that is better suited to me. The only issue with it is the fact that it does not have any darned benefits. If there is any justice in the cosmos, the state legislature will one day permit MSL to convert some of their OPS (other personnel services - i.e., the no-benefits jobs) positions into career service (jobs with benefits) positions, and I'll be offered one of them. If that were to occur, I would stay at this job happily until the day I die.

Now, if they actually do ever get any limited amount of career service slots, I stand a pretty decent chance at snagging one, since I have the most job-time seniority of all the living history interpreters, and my managers say I am fantastic at what I do. But who knows when they'll get anything like that, particularly in this economy. So onward I go as is...
