dw100's prompt of "charm"
Everybody's got their little odd quirks, the little superstitions that even the most rational people cling to - Donna's is her lucky charm: the key.
There's nothing special about it, it's just an ordinary little metal key, the kind you open a storage locker with, or maybe a safety deposit box. It's not one of those, however - no serial number.
For the life of her she can't remember where she got it, or when - no, she knows she got it sometime after the wedding, that terrible year and a half that just disappeared from her memory after the accident. That probably explains why she clings to it when she's frightened.
She doesn't know why she's so attached to the silly little thing; it's just a key, and she can't remember what it's for. But she doesn't go anywhere important without it, and sometimes she finds herself staring up into the night sky, clutching her key, as if it could unlock the sky and take her away to something.... else.
But that's silly, of course. It's only a good-luck charm.
My first Donna fic, and it's a post-JE. Gah, I must be depressed. :P
