Who: Ichigo, Shiro, Rukia, Lior, and Byakuya What: Dinner at the Kurosaki House with SPECIAL GUEST When: ( Backdated ) 9/16/2011 Where: The Kurosaki Kitchen Warnings: Swearing? TBE if needed.
Not about Lior coming over, not at all. No, Byakuya. That fucking bastard. What was Ichigo thinking, inviting that GUY over to their house? To HIS territory? Stab him in the back, why don't you! It's the same thing! And he'd shown Ichigo his displeasure with this decision with the silent treatment. No communication except snorts, hisses, growls and glares. And now, Shiro is making a pest of himself by laying across the entire couch, watching some obnoxious cartoon on high volume and scowling.
Behave himself.
Hah.
Not in this lifetime.
There weren't enough snacks in the multiverse to bribe him this time.
When Ichigo gives her his back to leave the kitchen, Rukia can't help but breathe a sigh of relief. She was as dear to her as anything, but the shinigami daiko's culinary expertise didn't extend past ramen noodles and pop tarts. He took directions well enough, but he was slow. And too prone to snacking when he thought her back was turned.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Rukia triple checked the rice, the appetizers, the miso, the main course and the dessert in the fridge. Everything had to be perfect. Not because her brother would expect anything less from her (because a Kuchiki wouldn't be caught giving anything but a perfect effort), but because this dinner was crucial. If tonight went well, it would prove to her brother that the Kurosaki household could comport itself civilly. It would ease his mind, and take a lot of stress off her.
Everything just had to go without a hitch. No arguing. No fighting. No major disasters. Thank goodness Lior-san was coming as well, having a referee on both sides of the table would be helpful.
The young dark elf hadn't intended to visit the Kurosaki household again so soon, but she knew they wanted her to spend a bit more time over there if entirely possible. Dinner was always weird with her though, seeing as she barely ate anything for the simple fact that she just didn't have to. She felt like she was insulting Rukia's cooking or something, but there was little she could really do about that.
Unaware that Rukia's brother ( whom she talked to once, briefly, and since she had been gone for so long, likely didn't remember well at all, ) would be joining them as well, she made her way up to the house, polite enough to knock on the door even if she knew by now they wouldn't mind if she just strolled on in. The last thing she needed was to interrupt something important, so better safe than sorry.
She did call out to them though, "Ichigo, Shiro, Rukia, It's me." and she knew they were home, she could hear every little thing going on behind the walls. Especially the obnoxious cartoons Shiro was watching.
A social situation was the last thing Byakuya felt comfortable doing, especially when certain individuals were involved in this one, but he had told Kurosaki that he would show up for dinner and a Kuchiki, Byakuya in particular, just didn't go back on their word. Perhaps the substitute was right, as well. Byakuya didn't get out much and it would probably be a good idea to let others know he was still there and still alive. This effort on his part would also make Rukia happy, he was sure, and her happiness was important to him, even if he didn't outwardly show it
