THE CASTLE seafronted July 10 2011, 06:02:39 UTC
[Adorned for the holiday and looking lovelier than ever, the stone walls of the palace are covered in ivy and sunflowers, and the gardens are open and blooming with roses. The Queen is out and about and past her usual spot there today, so there is much more happening all over. Feel free to inquire with the guards there about what's going on, or where Her Majesty is, if you like.]

The people here are very welcoming and eager to help. I'm afraid it's taking me some time to adjust to everything. I come from a time where we still use lamps.

Oh, so do we. We just...don't use them quite as often. Most of the technology available here is in line with what I'm familiar with.

...barring the ability to dream things out of thin air, of course.

I am...completely unfamiliar with it. Using switch on the wall to light the room seems preposterous.

"Preposterous"? That's a rather strong word. Strange, yes, but...well, this entire place is preposterous, when all is said and done.

When I am used to gas lamps and fireplaces, little glass balls filled with light could be mistaken for witchcraft. If it was real, of course.

Depending on the source of the light, it could very well be witchcraft - creating light is simple enough magic.

Back home, that is.

[She lifts his chin, looking over at him.] Magic is real in your world?

Magic is very real in my world. And, to be fair, quite dangerous.

I'm not a fan of it myself, really.

Impossible....[Alice shakes her head slowly. It doesn't seem completely nonsensical, of course. Not with her adventures in Wonderland brought into account.]

[Giles indicates their general surroundings.]

Care to rethink that?

[Alice takes a moment to look around slowly.] You make a very good argument, Mr. Giles.

I've been told that, yes. I've had some practice at it.

...I understand your hesitation, though. Most people back in my home woudl be reluctant to admit that magic exists.

[Alice nods slowly.] All these different worlds.... A million possibilities.

Yeah?

Is the palace always this open to citizenry?
