Poor Youngjae, right? Makes you just want to cuddle him forever and ever.

Previous Chapter

“Hyungie?” The maknae called as he came home from school, dropping his bag to the floor and kicking off his shoes. He had been aware that there would be no one home except for Youngjae and usually Youngjae was nice enough to make him food after school, but Youngjae had been feeling a bout of sickness as of late and the youngest was more worried about his wellbeing.

The man was in bed any time they weren’t working and any time he didn’t have to be elsewhere. He had been scolded by the manager for looking so pale and not caring for himself, but the existence of makeup kept all fans otherwise unaware of his…illness. Ever since that night that Daehyun had announced that he had had a girlfriend, Youngjae couldn’t seem to get better. He was constantly throwing up most of what he ate and was only awake when he had to be. It worried the others to no end and nearly made Daehyun grow sick himself.

“I’m awake, Jundola.” It wasn’t often that Youngjae used the affectionate term, but he had been growing more and more ill and so it was nice to have that bit of connection and affection that would otherwise be given to Daehyun though the man still found that most of his time was spent with his new girlfriend. The thought alone makes Youngjae ill-though, he’d never admit to being sick because of his best friend’s relationship. That didn’t make any sense.

The bright-eyed maknae stepped into the room and looked to the man who still resided in his best friend’s bed but no one thought anything of it. If Youngjae took comfort from sleeping there while he was sick, then no one would blame him for it or judge, even if Himchan would laugh about it to himself when Youngjae wasn’t around. “How are you feeling today?” He moved to sit on the foot of the bed, the other man propped up against the headboard with a pillow behind his back and a bucket on the bedside table. Obviously, he was still getting sick.

His whole complexion was pale and his eyes looked weary and dull. Junhong didn’t like seeing his friend like this though none of them knew what they were supposed to do to help make him feel better. It wasn’t something that they had expected nor been prepared for and Youngjae refused to seek help for it.

Youngjae gave a small shrug and smiled weakly, “I haven’t thrown up as much today…” When Junhong’s smile lit up his face, Youngjae decided to not mention how it was because he hadn’t eaten much of anything. He’d hate to ruin the kid’s mood when he knew that the maknae was seriously worried for him-hell, he was worried for himself.

“Do you know when Daehyun will get home?” Youngjae asked and again, it wasn’t something that anyone gave thought to. Those two were closer than Himchan’s attachment to Jongup’s ass.

“He’s out with Heehyoung. Do you need him? Should I call him home?” The maknae was already in the process of withdrawing his phone from his pocket as he asked these questions and Youngjae was tempted to allow him to continue because he would give anything to have his best friend home and with him at that moment, to help care for him.

“No, no!” Youngjae said softly, though the reluctance was clear even to Junhong who decided not to comment. “He should have fun…” Junhong nearly opened his mouth to retort, wanting to state that he knew Youngjae better than that, but before he even had the choice, the front door opened and the other three came into the apartment.

“Hyung, would you please stop grabbing me.” There was the meek voice of Jongup who was probably as red as a tomato. Junhong rolled his eyes as he heard this; he was sure that Himchan was simply making things difficult for him for the hell of it.

“I’ll be right back.” Junhong said to Youngjae before rising from the bed and leaving the room to go and check on the three. He found himself getting his hair ruffled by the leader affectionately before Jongup took his arm and dragged him off to their room, obviously in attempt to flee Himchan’s wandering hands.

“Jonguppie!” He laughed as he called out, yelping and then laughing more when his arm was hit. “Oh, come on, you know he looks so cute when he gets all flustered.” Himchan would never think anything of what he said, finding that it was simply normal between friends-especially with how close the six of them were.

“Why must you make him get like that? Junhong-ah gets all angry on his behalf and then we have two maknaes to deal with, man.” The leader’s deep voice reasoned with the slightly younger man before the two of them venture into the living room.

The bedroom door had been left open when Junhong had left and so Youngjae was privy to their whole conversation without them even being aware of it.

Himchan chuckles and shook his head. “It’s just so much fun. And it’s not like I can help myself. The kid actually has a really nice ass.” Youngjae rolled his eyes because it was as though they all weren’t already aware of Himchan’s appreciation to the teenager’s firm buttocks.

“You are such a perv, Himchannie.” Yongguk snorted.

“Says the man who goes on about Jieun’s-“

“Don’t even go there, man!”

Himchan laughed and Youngjae cringed at the volume of it. That man did not have a volume control but they needed to install one soon. “Sorry, sorry…but speaking of fine ladies, Daehyun is out with his woman again, isn’t he?” Youngjae assumed that Yongguk nodded or something. “Think he’s sleeping with her yet?”

The conversation was cut short as Youngjae pulled the bucket from the table beside him and promptly heaved into it. It was a retched heave, one that brought tears to his eyes immediately and caused his upper body to ache from the force of it, his fingertips going tingly.

“Hyung?!” Junhong was the first one up and into the room with the elder man. Yongguk had risen from the couch and went to the kitchen, grabbing a cloth, wetting it and then bringing it to the man who finally emptied the contents of his stomach and was working on the bile that remained there.

“Here.” Yongguk held out the cloth and Junhong took it, their fingers brushing for a moment but otherwise nothing passing between them as Junhong gently wiped Youngjae’s mouth with the cloth for the sick man.

“Man, that’s gross.” Himchan stated as he had a dozen times during the week since Youngjae first got ill. “We should get you to a doctor or something…”

Junhong nodded vigorously as he picked the bottle of water up from the table and opened it for Youngjae, also helping the man do this by tipping the bottle once it was pressed to his mouth. “Himchannie-hyung is right. You’re not getting any better and it’s been a week…”

Youngjae shook his head and it surprisingly didn’t make him feel any more nauseated-at least that was something. “It’s just the stomach bug or something…”

“Anybody home?!” Daehyun called as he walked into the apartment and there was a soft, female voice that none of them could make out.
Junhong looked to his hyung for a bit longer before nodding his head, rising from the bed after moving everything to the bedside table to allow Youngjae to lay down.

The four men who had collectively gathered at their sick friend’s bedside dispersed to go and greet the guest in their home.

“How’s Youngjae?” Daehyun asked just as the door was being closed and it was as though his voice was closer.

“Let him rest, hyung.” Junhong said softly, standing before the door and motioning for Daehyun to return to the living room where his girlfriend was waiting.

That kid had such insight that it was so incredible and Youngjae truly appreciated that fact. He’d have to thank Junhong once he was better.
