This has been going on in this country for decades. Farmers have been given the shit-stick ever since fast food and other genetically altered produce hit the market back in the 70s and 80s ( ... )

Hahah, yes I know capitalism will probably destroy this country. And yes, it is kind of impossible to do anything that has not been tainted with it's evil :P

But purchasing local organic produce vs. buying from some big shot supermarket that has imported apples all the way from china and loads their shelves with unlabeled GMO foods and all sorts of things is like choosing to go to some small local hardware store for your nuts and bolts instead of home depot.

One can argue it's not going to make a huge difference because this country is doomed anyway... and they might be right... but, I don't know, it's about waking everybody up and realizing that if enough people change their buying habits, the corporations will have to adapt.

Most people have lost their faith in a kind of national or even global shift in consciousness, but I think if you just do what you can to spread the word you keep the option open (even if it's about as likely as the sun burning out tomorrow).

Rock on, Sister! I totally agree with you. I try my best now to buy at least organic milk, eggs and produce. And it does make a difference, I think. I mean, Stop and Shop even has it's own organic food line...of course they could just be lying about the fact that there food is organic but maybe not. How are you? Will you be in the NY region anytime soon? I miss you!

Hey! I miss you too. I was just reminiscing (sp?) with Michele when I met up with her in the poconos last weekend. I will be home for the Christmas holiday so from like mid December thru mid January. For Thanksgiving, I'm coming home Tuesday the 21st, but then I am returning to PA the Friday after Thanksgiving so that Nick's parents and my parents can meet. That should be interesting. In any case, we'll have to make sure our paths intersect during one of those times!
