Puzzles and a Cold

Hunt is on, with a Mario (or video games in general) theme this year. Unfortunately, I can't brain today, due to a cold. Hopefully once some helpful medicine kicks in, I'll be up and running.

Xave's Dresden Files tabletop game is starting, which looks like it should be fun. I'm still not a big fan of Fate, though, it requires more fiction- ( Read more... )

You know, it's interesting that you have the creativity issue with Fate, since Skikka in Boreala is one of the more creative party members (though his background doesn't come up so much these days). Maybe it's less of an issue when you're not under pressure/rushed.

Basically, I'm better at ad-lib than world-building. I think that Skikka started out pretty one-note; to the extent that Skikka's character has depth, most of it came out through in-game interaction. Before game, I knew little about my character and less about the other characters, but since my character didn't know the other characters, I didn't have to do the difficult (for me) task of figuring out how those characters relate/interact in advance. (I did have to contrive to give Skikka a reason to get involved with the other characters, but I'm fine with that. Who says all meta-gaming is bad?)

I haven't been able to brain much with results for the team, but I have been a live body for Cooking Mama - Iron Chef Edition! and The Incredible Machine!. We got coins for showing-up, the initial coffee round, and the second round. Our flag got raised, but that's it.
