I just finished a play-through of Disco Elysium. If you're a fan of wordy CRPGs like (in some ways, very very like) Planescape: Torment it's definitely a great one, and the voice cast of the updated edition, Disco Elysium - The Final Cut, is brilliant and adds a lot to the richness of the story.

Pretty dead this week. Eris has apparently been under more stress than usual for reasons I don't fully understand, but it's meant a lot of late nights in the past week and a few nights where I didn't get a four-hour block and was consequently wrecked. The washing machine broke. Fortunately, that was just a broken lid switch, which was a simple repair.

The furnace got stuck on. That also turned out to be a simple issue to repair (replacing a stuck 24V to AC relay), but expensive to get fixed promptly. While that's back working-ish, it has other ongoing issues that require ( Read more... )

Some things are going well. I got in some cooking this weekend. I made bagels Friday for the first time (Montreal style), and those turned out pretty good! I played some Magic for the first time in a while, now that Magic Arena is on Android (works pretty well on my phone, too). Started playing Super Mario 3D World on the Switch.

It seems these days what I really want from TV shows is tense, dramatic, and dark. Lately, I've been watching Amazon's adaptation of The Boys, the premise of which is basically "what if Superman was a sociopath?" (After all, super-powers corrupt super-ly. As does the desire for revenge.)

Five weeks of reopening in. Things around here are okay. Somerville has pushed out phase three of reopening until at least August 17. Local schools will be doing... something.

Still tired, but at least this is back to somewhat close to the levels of tiredness before this emergency kicked in. I sure don't feel ready for the rest of this year.

Daycare and school closures in MA were extended this week until June 29. So at least nine more weeks of daycare outage. Probably other non-essential business closures will be extended beyond May 4, but that announcement hasn't happened yet.
