brains are WEIRD

I've noticed quite a few small changes in my visual and cognitive processing post-craniotomy - primarily in the form of fluctuating double vision (the entire world has a drop shadow now!) that I can actually accurately use as an indicator of my neurological wellbeing (is the drop shadow offset by more than a few pixels? SIT DOWN RIGHT NOW.) and ( Read more... )

yarn and pointy sticks, whimsical in the brainpan, brains, still not dead, where is my instruction manual?

It's SO strange. I could never understand why people hated charts - it's all RIGHT THERE! In tidy rows and you can just SEE how it goes! Except now I can't. *shakes head*

Very weird indeed! I'm glad you're still able to knit lace though!

I'm still trying to identify everything that's affected and isolate a pattern. Some things have improved drastically (my balance) some things have gotten much worse (short-term memory, tinitus) and some things have just shifted sideways. It know I did a bunch of research into what functions the tumor was likely affecting, and it lined up pretty tightly to my symptoms at the time of diagnosis, but I can't remember now what those things were. *facepalm*

Now that I've had a bit of time to consider this, yeah, I don't think I'm surprised -- it makes a particular bit of pattern-matching for post-surgical you go PING, though I can't describe the pattern.

Er. Other kind of pattern.

If you ever figure out how to describe the pattern-matching, I'd be fascinated to hear your take on it.

Man, that would freak me right out - that's such a change. But then the entire biology of functioning humans freaks me out to start with, so...
