Does it sound to anyone else that Dorcas's name is actually 'Douglas'? I was just rewatching the end of season 1 with my brother, and had already thought that 'Dorcas' really doesn't match the Germanic naming theme, but after I heard them yell it over and over, it really began to sound like 'Douglas' to me ( Read more... )

You'd be amazed how little effort it takes to provide inspiration, especially with our mousapelli.

Not all of the names in KKM are or Germanic origin, just most of them. Anissina and Krennikov, for example, are both Russian surnames. Raven is a name of English origin, and Cecilie is French.

Dorcas is a female (*gigglesnort* that cracks me up!) name of English (and Biblical) origin that is derived from the Greek dorkas meaning "gazelle".

you're right, they aren't all Germanic, but the rest are all European though so far as I'm seeing.

You could be right, maybe i'm just hearing things, but it sounds like it has more syllables than Dorcas does to me. Guess we won't know until the official stuff makes it that far *g*

yeah, it does sound like it has more syllables than Dorcas does, and i was thinking that it had to do with all vowel-less consonants in Douglas, but you and ranchelle might really be right.

then again, these japanese adds vowels where there is none. so perhaps we need to wait for official stuff to come out?

Yeah, the way they pronounce it is 'dakasukosu', definitely not Dorcas, but Dorcas is easier to write anyways :D

Dacascos would probably be the English name as mmrr-san hears it. (and thanks Pan for helping me search XD) Perhaps after Mark Dacascos ?

haha, maybe, it is really hard to hear because they yell it so fast, but it sure doesn't sound like 'Dorcas' to me.

I guess we won't know until the official stuff gets that far, and even then who knows what'll happen.
