Not so great, not so wise

This goes out to those fans who ALSO watch the dub on their DVDs. I've been meaning to bring this up ever since I watched DVD #7... ( Cut for DVD spoilers )

No I cut and paste into html. I've tried fixing it a few times, but it's not helping. Doing cuts in rich text format hasn't been working for a while for me, it always gives each paragraph a new cut.

Yuuri is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal and Shinou is voiced by Tony Oliver.

at the time the English version was cast, S3 hadn't even started yet in Japan.

Not only that. If what I know of the dubbing industry is true (and it very well may not be, so take this with a grain of salt or whatnot), they had completed recording all 78 episodes before Geneon went under - at least six months before S3 aired.

I like that they were really making us see Murata is the Daikenja's reincarnation. But for the Daikenja to have the same exact voice as Murata... As Necloud9 said, not even older sounding... That was a mistake. Sure, use the same voice actor for multiple people, but please make their voices distinct. D:

I still enjoyed his performance, though.

And I think Tony Oliver sounds best as Shinou after the point when he's been possessed by Soushu. He sounded just a smidge too young before that...

Keeping in mind, these are all comparisons to the Japanese version, which may not be entirely fair. In general, I trust voice actors' judgment when going into dubbing a role.

Personally, I'm very fond of the dub. I really don't have any qualms with it. At first I didn't like Murata's voice because it didn't have that "obscenely nerdy" feel to it... But I had just watched over a hundred episodes in Japanese. Of course I had to get used to it. Now I love it~

I have issues with people voicing similar characters, but that issue rests mainly with the same person playing both twins. Which is what I feared they would do for Ouran (Which they didn't~). But really, I think the dub is really good, despite what my anti-dub friends tell me. XD

I really do adore both casts. I'm so used to both, it's like second nature. I think both subs and dubs have their individual merits, so it's really rather impossible to say which is "better" for the series. It's like comparing apples and oranges. For me, at least.

My eyes were immediately drawn to ~*~Yuri Lowenthal~*~ and then the rest of the post was Dead To Me. I was too busy UNFing over Mr. Lowenthal. UNF.
