In which I make terrible life choices. Also, whales.

My mother and I went to Olive Garden last night. I ordered the cheese raviolli, and some chocolate strata cake for dessert. The raviolli was decent; the cake was delicious. Over the course of the night I ate 3/4 of the cake. That was a full 2/4 more than I was supposed to eat. Aside from the fact that it put me way over my calorie limit for the day ( Read more... )

It's probably a stomachache, and I would guess it was caused by the richness of the cake combined with you stressing out over eating too much. Stress is actually a big factor in a lot of these things! But especially if you're not used to eating rich food/desserts like that, especially more of it than you were planning, would probably be the main thing, is my guess. Either that, or the ravioli could have been off - watch out for food poisoning! I would have problems with that meal because I'm lactose intolerant, but I'm guessing you don't have a sensitivity to dairy :P

As for the "you'll spoil your dinner" saying, I'm pretty sure that just means you'll fill up on dessert and won't have room for dinner. Not getting sick or anything!

The whaleshakers are so cute omg.

I'm also lactose intolerant to a certain extent, which I'm sure didn't help. Normally I can pace myself while eating dairy foods, but I guess the dairy + cake combo didn't sit well. It's kind of sad. When I was a kid, I had an iron stomach and could eat as many sweets as I wanted. I wonder what happened...

Don't forget the cake is full of dairy too! :P All that cream and chocolate. If you're somewhat lactose intolerant it sounds like you just went past your limit :( I love things like creamy cakes and creamy/cheesy pasta but I've had to cut down on them a bit or just have one at a meal instead of both when I go out because of the stupid lactose problems. At home I just make stuff with lactose-free milk though XD

Normal cake doesn't bother me, but this cake had lots of mousse frosting, which probably has more dairy than what I'm used to.

Lactose-free milk is fantastic! Too bad they don't sell it in smaller containers. Mine always goes bad before I can use it all up because I don't cook with milk very often.

My mother keeps the salt shaker at her computer desk too, probably because she eats at the computer.

Right now my only whale things are the salt & pepper shakers, bathroom caddy, and wallet, but I have my eye on a toothbrush holder and shower curtain. EVENTUALLY EVERYTHING IN MY HOUSE WILL BE WHALES!

You are getting a card from me, along with possibly something else whether you want it or not...;)

Haha, noted. I do appreciate all the cards I get. I just didn't want people to send me cards while expecting them in return.

Well, you are in luck for I don't expect anything in return. Besides I couldn't forget Hobo's new Mom this Christmas...;)

They had an adorable whale pencil sharpener and bookends too, but the pencil sharpener was not automatic and the bookends were super expensive.

Bizarrely, apple juice is one of the few things that always gives me a stomachache D:

Other than that, I have a stomach of iron though and eating too much sugar/rich things never really affects me. Has it happened to you before if you've eaten rich things previously?

Juice has always made me a bit queasy. I think it might be the acid found in a lot of fruits.

Nope, prior to this I also had a stomach of iron when it came to eating sweet/rich things. I'm wondering if it's because I changed my eating habits last year when I started my diet. I guess my stomach is no longer used to large amounts of rich/sugary foods.
