Littlest Pet Shop has taken over my counter.

Nov 03, 2011 23:45

I finally sorted through my Littlest Pet Shop toys. It took about four hours to separate the sets since everything was mixed together in one huge box.

I'm posting this mostly because atateatarin asked me which sets I had, but I figured that someone else on my f-list might enjoy it for the nostalgia factor. Surely I am not the only one who used to play with ( Read more... )

Eeee, I had most of these sets as a kid! I actually still have them, but I don't take them out often. I should do that at some point, old LPS are so cute. I adored that husky set, too! Bombay was among my favorites, too, along with the yellow kitty and the orcas (among others). I wonder if all my sets are still complete? I don't really care, but the complete sets certainly bring me back. ♥

I don't think I could ever sell mine, I'm too nostalgic. XD

I've found that I've gotten a bit less nostalgic as I got older. There are some thing that I'll never sell, and then there are some things (like most of these LPS sets) that I'll keep for 10-15 years before finally selling them. I don't have the space to display them at the moment and the nostalgia value for most of them has worn off, so I figure I might as well sell them to someone who would appreciate them more.

I'll probably keep at least one of the Sea World whales though.

oh my godddd dudeeee I had so many of these!! The two cats, Bombay, the tank with the octo and seahorse, Beethoven, the whale and penguins.... even more of these I totally recognize!! I think those last accessories are not littlest pet shop brand, though. That tiger from mcdonalds WAS fucking cool, man. I wanted it so much and I finally got one after ... many happy meals. I loved the dragon too.

A while back I tried searching for an old set I had (didn't find it) but using the word "vintage" in the search helped a lot I think.

My mother helped me with the Happy Meal toys, which is probably why I have doubles of them all. I ate soooo many McDonalds cheeseburgers as a kid, until I finally destroyed my stomach during the Neopets promotion. (It took more than 6 months before I could eat fast food again.) I might keep a tiger. I have a soft spot for tigers and for things that are pink for no apparent reason.

I've tried searching with "vintage", but some of the sets still aren't pulling up. Or they are pulling up, but they're grouped with a dozen other sets and I have no idea which ones are contributing to the final auction price.

HMMM WELL, I remember one set I had from my childhood. It was really special to me, and I especially loved one figure from it that I took with me everywhere and drew pictures of even! He was technically my first character. Maybe you could tell me about the set, I'll try to describe it...

It was a cat family. There was a mother, I believe she was orange, and laying down. The father was grey I think and his back legs could move. one of the babies (the one I loved) was yellow and had a groove in his back that fit snuggly into the dad's mouth (as if the father was carrying him by the scruff) there was another kitten, I think she was brown. It came with a white basket cage thing along with a yellow bucket that had been tipped over, spilling milk. (Probably the little kittens' fault)

I'M SORRY FOR THE AWKWARD DESCRIPTION. I was hoping to find this set on ebay someday to re-live the childhood nostalgia.

ahhhhhhh so cuuute! :D Yesss that huskies set, I love mine so much ;; I thought the mcdonald's pets were great, I wish they'd made more fantasy pets in the retail sets. Maybe if they'd been around longer :< (I also always felt kind of cheated that there was a kangaroo in the art for the Zoo's divider, but no G1 kangaroo was ever made :What were you thinking of asking for the pink long-haired kitty set, the sick puppy set, the baby bunnies in the pink basket or for the brown bunny in the second to bottom pic? :3 ( ... )

Why didn't they stick around longer? One year I was collecting them, and the next they had completely vanished from stores.

Hmm, not including shipping, how about...

Pink kitty: $4
Sick puppy: $5
Bunnies in basket: $3
Brown bunny: $2-$3 (may be a bit high, but he's one of the ones I might keep)

Feel free to counter-offer on those. As I said in the post, I am going off ebay prices (when I can find them) and you know more about these sets than I do.

Oh, that's what those horses were called! I could not remember for the life of me what their names were, but I loved playing with them as a kid. I still have the horses somewhere.

Do you have any idea what the completed pony set would sell for? I only see incomplete sets that didn't sell on ebay.

Thanks for all the help!

They were really popular in their first three years when they were doing pets, zoo, country and then the sparkling ponies, but in about 94/95/early 96 they started making stuff like tie-ins, merpets and the brushables and the line really tanked in popularity. Overall it technically ran from 92-96 (only 93-95 here) so it wasn't too bad for a toy run in the early 90's. Kenner was a bit funny like that with its later additions to its toylines, like with Jurassic Park, the series 2 of both the first and second film toylines had really messed-up distributions that make the toys really hard and costly to get ( ... )

Items: $14.50
Shipping + fees: $8.18
Total: $22.68

If that's okay with you, please send payment to nelsonn AT alumni.upenn.edu and include what you bought in the memo. If shipping ends up being less than that, I'll refund you the difference. I didn't want to accidentally undercharge on shipping since Australia's rates jump so much with every ounce.

And thank you for the pricing advice!

LPS were my favorite toys growIng up. I had a ton of them but as I got older they are seem to disappear sadly. I even had some of the set you have, that bath at was my favorite mostly because of the cute green goggles the white dog would wear. I also had the sea world sets too though mine never really lit it like it showed on the box. :P Also loved the Beethoven series!

I've seen LPS sell the best when they are in giant lots on eBay tbh. If I am not mistaken I think there might be a community for them. (I am at work now but I can look for it for you when I get home.)

My Sea World sets used to light up, but I'm not sure they do anymore. I made the mistake of leaving the batteries in and then storing the sets in a box for 15 years. When I pulled them out again, there was battery acid everywhere.

I'm a bit hesitant to put them in a giant lot because the ONLY thing I've seen that work for is Beanie Babies... and that's only because they're worthless individually. I might try selling whatever is left over as a group after I sell the more valuable individual sets.

Let me know if you find the community, please! Livejournal comms are my favorite place to sell things since I already have sales policies and feedback and such on LJ.

Oh, my, Yeah I can relate there. I has a ton of motorized zoids back when I was in high school and I put them in storage before I went to college, well four years later and I really wish I had taken the batteries out of those things. Such a waste...

The only beanie babies I've seen that sell for somewhat near there pre-2000 price range were the ones that was rare as can be to begin with like the royal blue Peanut the elephant and Humphrey the camel. But you are right, leftover in a lot would be the best idea.

And I apologize as I was mistaken. It's wasn't an LJ community like I thought it was. (This was hidden in my favorites from years back when I was trying to re-locate a Seaworld set and for some reason I could have sworn it was a LJ comm) It's a proboards forum. But there is a lot of members and people post want lists so you might have some luck there though.

Ahhh! :D So cute. I had the dalmatian set. I think I still have him around somewhere, but I'm missing some of his accessories.

There was a Dalmatian that sold for $15 shipped on ebay recently, so maybe $8 + shipping for the dalmatian?

I think the other is supposed to be a rottweiler. I can't find him listed anywhere, but I was thinking around $5-$6 for him.

If that sounds okay with you, let me know and I can find a box and give you a shipping quote. Or feel free to make a counter-offer.

$8 for the dalmatian set + $5 for the rottweiler? That sounds fair. :) If that's cool with you, my zipcode is 28213!

Sorry for the late response.

The dalmatian's carrier case has some black residue on it, which I forgot to mention before. (Here's a picture of the cages.) You might be able to scrub it off with soap; I haven't tried. Let me know if you'd like me to swap that cage out for the empty dark blue carrier.

One more thing I forgot to mention: the cage tags have writing on them. One has the name written in pencil, so you might be able to get it off. The other has a name written in pen, which was scribbled out after I realized that I couldn't erase it. (Yeah, apparently I was a dumb kid.) Here's a picture that shows the tags.

If that's okay with you, your total is $16.17 shipped. Please send payment to nelsonn AT alumni.upenn.edu and include what it's for in the memo. Thanks.
