Slightly similar story from years ago, I'll never forget the first and only time I got a caterpiller to pupate successfully. His name was Murphy. I found him somewhere, put him in a jar, fed him until he made a cocoon and actually hatched. Up to then they usually died before or in the cocoon, probably because I fed them the wrong plants. I don't know what species he was, some sort of hawkmoth or sphinx by his size and shape, but I don't remember the markings enough to know for sure. I let him fly away to have a mothy life afterward.
I've had a thing for moths ever since. I like them better much than butterflies.
Aww! I LOVE jumping spiders. Even when I wasn't a fan of spider-kind, I liked them. I think it's awesome that you gave these little guys a better chance. I hope they prosper! The world is a better place with more little boingy spiders around.

Amazing pictures of the spiderlings! Hope you take lots of photos of the ones you're keeping- it'll be neat to see their development.
