Ahem, okay, I just have to say that I LOVED this! I saw that first episode of the new season and I was dying inside for someone, or myself, or anything to write something about Kyle and Declan's friendship and how this reunion would work for them, or even anything touching upon how depressed and moody Declan had been while Kyle was away those few months. This story was wonderful and in character and I loved how well you captured their unspoken communication and understanding and yes, that last line, I'm still grinning like a loon over how perfect it was XD
Wow, what a great review! 8) Thank you. What is the saying; if people won't write what we wish to read we must do it ourselves, no matter how odious a business it may be. *teehee*

I completely agree, which is why I felt particularly glad that a fic this enjoyable to read popped up and mirrored my own thoughts and desires from the series :)
That one had me grinning :D. I love the Kyle/Declan friendship so much, and I see Kyle really confiding in him over the course of this season. Well done!
I'm really excited that this fic exists. Declan and Kyle are probably my favorite two people on TV right now, and I was still waiting for him to burst through the Tragers' front door when the premiere ended; I like your version of events.
I'm really exited that you're really exited. *nodnod* Here's hoping it's not too AU and TPTB give us some friendshippy goodness in the actual show, yes yes.
Nice description of Kyle's basic nature: he subconsciously expected everyone's default state to be as giving and honest and noble as his own. Doesn't make much sense if Kyle was intended by his creators as a weapon or warrior.
Unfortunately, it has zero value if he's to survive.
Not sure I agree with it having ZERO value, though. After all, he's only been alive, what, a few months? and he's already got a family, friends, and several loyal protectors. That there is something intrinsicly admirable in his character might well end up being the only thing that keeps him alive. :)
He's super intelligent, learns quickly, and is adaptable but a lot of his charm is his naivete. So he stays quirky and charming and gets his head handed to him or, from his point of view even worse, puts those who love him in danger. Another possibility is that he grows suspicious and cautious but hopefully survives.

The sophomore year of TV series can be tricky.
