Ok... so say a doc gets paid a good part of what he is owed from one insurance company ($893 of $1318, for example). Then the doc bills the second insurance company... not for the remainder, but for the full amount! How evil is this of the doc ( Read more... )

as much of a fan of physician bashing as i am... and i really am... that is actually how it is done. The secondary insurance usually wants the full bill, AND the EOBs and payout info from the primary at which point they review all previous charges and payments and cut a check... or dont... for the most part docs are assholes, but insurance agencies are fucking EVIL incarnate.

Hmm... then I guess I will just make sure they got the info that part was paid. 'Cause from what they told me, they only got a request for filling a $1318 bill.

oh and we can still doc-bash him for not replying to the "please tell us why this claim was submitted on this date" letter =)

I'm still trying to get the hospital to send the _correct_ insurance company the bill. it's annoying, to say the least.

stupid hospitals.
None of this would be an issue if they had written down my address correctly... or bothered to write down my name correctly... or ask me about any of it before having me leave...
