Ow.

I must have slept wrong the night before last. The right side of my neck feels absolutely clenched with tension, like for a pulled muscle or something, and the stress of dealing with work yesterday didn't help in the slightest. I tried to sleep more carefully this most recent night, but really, sleep more carefully? I'm UNCONSCIOUS. *facepalm ( Read more... )

stress, work, ouch, real life

Sorry, but you really DO have to sleep more carefully. I used to have a similar problem about two decades ago that, if my neck moved into a bad position when I was sleeping, I woke up unable to move it ... and had to take the day off work.

Pick up one of those muscle rub creams on your way home and rub it on the parts of the neck that hurt. It's a lovely feeling when the warmth spreads throughout and you can reduce the pain.

You may also want to consider deliberate relaxation before going to bed, because I can tell this stress is SO not doing you any good. Wouldn't it be nice if you could jump in the Wayback Machine and press a reset button, eliminating your latest stupid system.

Trying-to-be-helpful hugs,
'lenka

Sounds like good advice. I'll pick up some Bengay or Tiger Balm on my way home from work tonight.

I suspect maybe it's got something to do with my pillow or the way they keep sliding down between the mattress and the bedframe. That, and the topmost pillow seems to have lost the full fluff that it once had and perhaps no longer provides great support.
