Because seriously, it'd be nice for both the symbolic break between old and new. Post-end-of-quarter overflow at work kept me tremendously busy for all of yesterday, and then... well, suffice to say that apparently ( my luck at cards sucked last night. )

Awake at 5 am, had breakfast, showered, got on the road by 6:45, down to Marlborough by 7:30, worked 'til noon doing scrap-duties (lousy hours, but hey, overtime), then back home, quick nap, grabbed lunch at Applebee's, up to Sharky's for a poker tourney (took 2nd, $150), then played in a $60 game and got busted breaking one of my cardinal rule of ( Read more... )

On a Saturday. Again. Just to try and catch up because the past two weeks have sucked so much. *sigh* Sometimes I feel like I haven't read LJ in months, aside from the brief little 10-minute scan of my flist's first 20 entries each morning.

I must have slept wrong the night before last. The right side of my neck feels absolutely clenched with tension, like for a pulled muscle or something, and the stress of dealing with work yesterday didn't help in the slightest. I am filled with the desperately manic energy of an exhausted man, one who has been working frantically all day and knows that if he should stop to relax he will collapse and not be able to get up again.

The transaction system still sucks, even though we're more proficient in it now.  It's just that it's too slow for the scale of our business.  *

New transaction system at work -- Oracle -- sucks very much as I suspected it would. Now doing things like sending a customer product via one shipping method and charging them another is virtually impossible. Given that between putting a book in my backpack this morning (for lunch reading) and lunch right now (4 - 5 hours later) I'd completely forgotten WHICH book I brought, how high on the work-is-crazy stress-o-meter would my needle need to be?
