I think it's more of an inside joke, really. Of course, no one really accuses authors of trolling, but rather... well, fans do like to delude themselves that authors are paying attention to them. *shrugs*

Maybe it started as an inside joke but i'm getting the feeling that most people using it now simply have no idea what they are talking about...oh well, i needed to bitxh about something and i didn't want to complain about the new comment style like everone else.XD

Well, the sense of the word has expanded to "doing anything deliberately inflammatory for no reason than to get a vocal reaction". You can see how some authorial/creative decisions can come off that way. XD

I see what you mean, but it seems to be used much too frequently lately and since it has a really negative touch, it bothers me when it's used to describe things i actually consider good like unpredictability or uniqueness...
