The gym replied. They only answered two of my questions, and didn't answer either of them properly. Maybe I'm just cranky due to a lack of proper sleep lately, but I think I might look for another gym ( Read more... )

Because it's very fashionable to attend a gym, many of them have enough walk-in customers that they don't care about answering e-mail queries. Also, they want you to turn up, so they can get in your face and browbeat you into paying for a personal trainer (the ability to drop "my personal trainer" into conversation has some social cachet ( ... )

It's a shame they feel the need to behave that way. Your wife handled that so much better than I would have, though! I hate pushy salespeople... Some just seriously never register, "Oh, she's definitely never going to be interested"!

I think you might be right about this gym, though - but it's pretty stupid of them, considering I made it clear in my initial e-mail that I was interested in signing up two members for the full service - yearly membership with a personal trainer each!
