OK, so, the time has come to embark on a Serious Diet (once again). Actually, I'm not fat - I'm a couple of kilo's over my "healthy weight range" - and I'd like to hit the diet hard and be on the lower end of that healthy weight range (as in, the last possible kilo before it dips into unhealthily skinny - slight exaggeration, but you know).

I don't mean to be discouraging or critical, but from what I understand it's actually counterproductive to intense diets where you drastically cut calories or even entire food groups-- especially if it's to the point of being incapable of exercise. In general "dieting"-- setting short-term restrictions to lose weight fast and then returning to your normal eating once you've lost weight-- is much less effective in the long-term than making small but permanent changes to your usual diet. Also, yeah, my doctor is fairly pointless to go and see. Nearly every GP I've found here falls in 2 categories:

1. Not really worth visiting, unless you just need a prescription.
2. Not bad to see, but cost several hundred dollars a visit.
