This was an amazing story. Not only was it brilliantly written and characterized on both sides, it was brilliantly edited -- every line was necessary and never extraneous, which suited a story like this in which so much is unexpressed, except in that one awesome scene in the police showers in the previous part. I didn't mind the ending. No matter how amazing their partnership is, no connection between two people is 100% perfect. There are some things that even they can never completely understand about each other. It's not depressing, it just makes them human.

I enjoy S&H's relationship partly b/c they are quite different people who manage to connect so well. I find even their occasional fights and upsets heartening as they always remain friends afterwards. I think in a situation like this their gut reactions will differ widely and it would take a while for them to come back together -- but they do so eventually.
