After the KF classes, I swiftly headed home to finish up some minor cleaning details before the party. I won't bore you with that, but instead I will tell you that the party went splendidly!
F*CK. I tried so hard to remember everyone, too. Hell, I even recall that you were one of the few that dressed up, but NOOOOOOOOO I had to go and forget to give you credit. I shall address this *IMMEDIATELY*.
In our circles it seems that we're already familiar with each other from other events. Here, I actually stopped introducing people as most everyone had met each other at some point before the party. I just started watching for that familiar "Oh, hey!" look that signaled recognition.
There were a handful of folks that showed up after you left, true, but the majority of attendees had left by that point. I'm glad you had a great time! Oh, and Floyd-san took the bike home.
It was fun. I think I will do something similar for my 50th, at least along the telepresence lines. Maybe I'll make salty plum rice balls for *everyone*. ;-)
It's a great idea, but there's the issue regarding the sound differences between groups. It was clearly hard to hear folks on the PC over the roar of the party, but it could be resolved by several means. A larger screen for the video conferencing with better mic/speaker system, maybe a separate room (though that's kind of defeating the point), etc.
