Beemer's 40th birthday party

Apr 29, 2012 16:40

After the KF classes, I swiftly headed home to finish up some minor cleaning details before the party. I won't bore you with that, but instead I will tell you that the party went splendidly!

29 30 physical guests and 8 virtual guests blessed us with their presence last evening, leaving us humbled and grateful for such friends! (Name dropping will happen at the end of the post.) Several of us participated in the dress-up theme of mad/cute/evil scientist, which was a great visual accent to this crowd. Let me toss a few pics here so you can see.

"I ate all of your food when you looked away." "Why would you DO that??"

"No, Ron & Troy, this isn't one of *those* web sessions!!"

Jackie says "We're just here for the sake."

Sarah's sweeping moustache and lovely outfit made her the most popular gal at the party!

Proof that Jason and David are pod people.

Ted and Pyro pause from socializing for a quick pic.

Pyro happens to have a number of pics up on his FB album over at http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2097722539747.60776.1745897689&type=1 , while I have a few more pics on my Flickr ablum at http://www.flickr.com/photos/kansaimonkey/

Oh, and so much food! Very generous submissions by our lovely guests. Tasty olives, sausage rolls, delicious sake, rice balls, and more! Here, I admit to being a bit cruel. You see, musikub and I made 12 rice balls but stuffed 3 of them with chicken, 8 of them had unagi, and 1 had a very salty plum! It was indistinguishable from the rest, so those who wanted a rice ball ran the risk of getting more than they bargained for. It all turned out well, though, as our lovely Beemer found (and ate!) the 'trapped' rice ball at the very start of the event. We couldn't have planned any better if we tried.

Along the course of the night, we also gave tours of the house to our friends who had not seen it yet (not to mention those curious about how we rearranged after Greg and Robb departed.) What home repair was done, how we've used the space, and how odd it is that there's so much lighting and how low all of the light switches were placed were discussed, leading us to concoct a story about some feral sub-human child with sharp claws whom lived in the basement required very low placed light switches to turn with his malformed shoulders as his hands were all T-Rexy. Something like that. Hey, it made a better story than "We actually don't know."

And now, my list of peeps who are awesome and whatnot.
