LJ: California Considers Ban on Sale of Shark Fins

A few days ago, the steps to ban possession and sales of shark fins started to move forward in Sacramento, California. Hawaii has already passed laws against shark fin possession (restaurants do have a grace period to get rid of their current stocks).
The Mariana Islands (U.S. territory east of the Philippine Sea and west of the Mariana Trench

I saw how they "fish" for shark fins, and seriously it is a massive waste of live, especially since in 99.99% they throw the still living shark back into the water, where it slowly dies.

So ban it, even if my ex-in-laws might complain.
