The day I met you

Summary: Desperate for Her daughter life, Hyukjae take a drastic decision to leave her boyfriend behind and start anew in a new city. She was hoping that her past will never haunt her. Her life starts to change drastically. She did find happiness but will she found love too?

Chapter 4
“Mommy, where are we going?” Hana excitedly ask while she looks out of the bus window. “Mommy needs to make a phone call.”
“Where? On this bus?” Hana look at her mommy and scratch her head. “No, princess. Mommy wanna call Aunt Jess. Don’t you miss her??Mommy does.”
“Auntie Jess. Yes. Hana miss her too. Are we going home? At Auntie Jess place?” Obviously Hana didn’t like the idea of going back home. It is clearly shown in her face. “We’re not going back there. Don’t worry.” Hyukjae kiss Hana’s pouting lips.
“Okay. I don’t like there. I don’t like our old house. I like Nanna house more. But I like Auntie Jess. Is she missing me, mommy? Can she come to Nanna house?” Hyukjae chuckles and answer, “I know she is missing you. You still can ask her about that later, okay?” Hana nod her head happily and her eyes fix on the view once again.
It’s been 6 months since she escape from Junsu. She can’t deny that she is very much happy with her life now. Hana seems to be happy too. Her little baby never asks her about Junsu at all. Hana never mention about her old life at all. That surprises her. Hana never questions her about why they suddenly move away. Hana that she knows is always curious in everything.
Hyukjae was drown in her own thoughts. How long will they have their happiness? How is Junsu? What is he doing now? Will he find them soon? What will happen to them if Junsu finally know where they are? What will happen to Hana? Is it safe to contact Jessica now? How is Jessica? Is she having trouble because of Junsu?
“Mommy? You look sick.” Hana face is very close to Hyukjae. Her little palm touch hyukjae’s face. Hyukjae eyes widen at first because she surprise to see Hana’s face is so close to her. After recover from her shock, Hyukjae smile and start to tackle Hana and tickle her.
“Who said mommy is sick?” Hana laugh loudly as Hyukjae keep on tickling her. The passengers next to their seats smile and shake their head at Hyukjae’s and Hana’s playfulness. “Mommy, stop.” Hana plead. She keep on laughing till her tears coming out of her eyes.
“Poppo first.” Hyukjae pucker her lips and Hana happily gives her a kiss. The ride after that is so lovely. Hyukjae keep on teasing Hana. After a long ride, finally they arrive at their destination.
After getting out of the bus, Hyukjae and Hana have their lunch first. After launch, Hyukjae find a public phone and call Jessica. She has to make sure Junsu can’t find them. Afraid that Junsu might trace their call, Hyukjae decided to call Jessica far away from their current city.

It doesn’t take long for Jessica to answer the phone. Hyukjae has to put the phone a little far from her ear since Jessica is screaming at her, throws her thousands of questions about her and Hana.
After done with a little information for Jessica, she hand the call to Hana, who keep tugging her jeans so the little one can talk to her favourite auntie too. Hana talks a lot about her new Nanna and uncle; which is Sungmin whom she declares as a superman since Sungmin always do magic tricks for her.
After satisfied with all the things that Hana thought she must share with Jessica, she hand over the phone to Hyukjae again. Well, after sending kisses through the phone.
“It’s good to know that you finally settle down. I’m so glad everything works out so well for both of you.” Jessica starts talking.
“Thanks to you. This wouldn’t happen if I don’t have you my side Jess.” There’s an awkward silent for a moment. Jessica knows what Hyukjae want to say next. “He.. Didn’t bother you guys, right?”
Hyukjae can hear jessica sigh before answering her question. “He did. In the beginning. He trashes the café over and over again and we had to call the police to restrain him away from us. He beat up Joshua coz he thinks Joshua sent you away. I didn’t tell them what happen at first but since Junsu keep harassing us I have to come clean. I’m sorry. But don’t you worry. Everything is okay now. They totally understand.”
“I’m so sorry, Jess.”
“It’s not your fault, Hyuk. Don’t apologies. Things had been taken care of.”
“How is he…now??”
Again she hears Jessica sigh. “I don’t know if I should tell you.” Hyukjae’s heart suddenly beating up faster that it should be.
“He was arrested. Vandalism one thing. And he was caught selling drugs. You didn’t tell me he is one of the biggest dealer here.”
Shock by the news, hyukjae went silent for a moment. “Hyukjae?”
“Uh..I’m still here. When?”
“Couple of months ago. They say he will be inside for a long time.”
“Really? He’s never able to get out?”
“I don’t know. If he get a great defense team..Who knows. I think for the time being, you and Hana are safe.”
Is it really safe now? With Junsu behind the bar, Hyukjae and Hana really have their freedom. “Is it really safe now?”
“Yes. I’ll update to you from time to time, okay? But you need to have your own phone so I can contact my bestfriend more.” Hyukjae slowly nod.
The new information is so overwhelming for Hyukjae. Is this really happening? Is it going to okay for them now? But for how long?
“Hyuk-ah. Don’t think too much. It is going to be okay. Now, bestfriend, if you buy a new phone, please make sure I’m the first person you contact. I’ll come and visit you and Hana soon, okay?”

“Hyuk, come here for a moment.” Sungmin called from his office. Yuri nod at her; saying that she’ll cover for her when she’s inside Sungmin’s office.
“Close the door please.” Hyukjae follow her order. Is she in trouble? Hyukjae look back at Sungmin when the man clear his throat.
“Listen. I need you to submit to me your certificates. Copies of course. Birth cert and academics. Two copies each.” Hyukjae’s eyeborows met each other. “Why, sir? Am I in trouble?”
Laughing Sungmin answer, “Why are you so paranoid? Stop with all the negative thinking. Just hand me all those tomorrow. If you don’t have time, then I’ll help you to make the copies. I’m doing you a favor.”
“What do you mean?”
“My sister works in a company. But she has to quit her job soon. Since her husband want her to be a housewife. She’s pregnant. She’s been working there for 5 years. Her boss really really like her. Seriously, her boss really love her there. This happen and she need to find a replacement ASAP. I told her about you. She wants me to submit your resume. Don’t worry so much since her boss trust her judgment. You’ll meet her soon. She’s the one who will interview you. Last but not least she’s a nice person.” Sungmin explain.
“Why me? I don’t think I’m qualified. I didn’t even finish my college year. I’m..”
“Zip it. This is final.”
“But, sir..”
“I’m the boss Hyukjae. This is an apportunity for you to grab. I know you never want to stay here and work in endless shift. The payment is a little low too. I see potential in you. You’ll be okay. Besides, if you accept the offer and my sister want you to have the job, it’s the best for you; especially Hana. Don’t let me start with the salary. To make you at ease, your new boss is our family friend.”
“What about the others?”
“Their time will come. This is your time. We will always welcome you anytime as our VIP customer.” Sungmin smile a gentle smile to Hyukjae. “I’m not trying to get rid of you, no. Don’t get me wrong. To be honest, you’re one of my favorite because you do your job extremely well since day one. The others praise you a lot too. Another reason is you have to raise Hana. I believe you want the best for her. My other workers, as you can see are still single and some of them do this as their part time job. You understand, right?”
Hyukjae nod her head. “Uh..Thank you??” That make Sungmin laugh so hard. “You just need a little more confident in you. That’s all. And one more thing.” Sungmin tap his hand together try to find the right word to say.
When he find none, he just say it straight forward to Hyukjae. “You can’t say Hana is your daughter. Don’t mention her when you’re working there. The boss will like you better.”
“But..”
“Just do what I say. He’s not a family person. Trust me. If things out of control let me and my sister handle him, okay? Now, go back to work and don’t forget to bring what I told you to.”
Hyukjae exit the room with her shoulder down. She didn’t really want to leave because she’s already too attach with everybody in the restaurant. Including Sungmin.
The news spread really fast. All of the workers know that Hyukjae will resign from working at the restaurant. They throw her a little party before her interview.

Just like what Sungmin said, his sister, Soo young is really nice and sweet. She knows Hyukjae just as Sungmin does. Sungmin is so detailed when he tell her sister about Hyukjae. Just like Sungmin, her sister request for Hyukjae hide about her having a child. Just for a while. When her position is secure then, she’ll tell her boss the truth.
With a heavy heart, Hyukjae agree. She’ll need to talk about that to Hana later. Sungkyu didn’t agree at first. How can she have to hide her daughter just to have that job but eventually agree when she said she’ll tell her new boss when the time is right. Who can blame her? Sometimes the world can be so cruel.
A week after meeting with Sungmin’s sister, Hyukjae has to report duty in the company. Sungmin’s sister train Hyukjae on how to do her job well. How to follow her boss schedule, likes and dislikes. As much as she loves the new opportunity, she must say her new boss is one of the complicated human being she ever encounters. So many things that she need to learn about her boss.
Knowing the look on Hyukjae’s face, Sungmin’s sister pats her back. “You’ll get used to him. He’s not as bad as you think he is. Be patient. He’ll love put a tough test on newbies. But I know you’ll be just fine.”
DING!
Suddenly the elevator on the floor rings. From the look in everybody else face, Hyukjae can tell the boss she’s been thinking about is coming. As soon as the elevator door opens, a strong aura spread in that place. It’s cold and gloomy. A man with black suits walks straight to her direction. The man didn’t bother to glance around and replies all the greetings he gets.
“Donghae-shi. She is the one who will replace me. I train her for a week now. I know she’s ready. I already tell her what she needs to know about her job and you.”
The strong aura she felt earlier softens a little when Donghae, her new boss look at Sungmin’s sister. “Noona, I don’t want you to resign. I bet she’s not as perfect as you.”
Okay. This is the first time they met and he openly bad mouthing her in front of her face.Hyukjae thought. “She’ll be fine. I thought you trust my choice? Sungmin strongly recommend her for you. I mean to replace me.”
“Your position is always be open for you to come back, noona.” Sungmin’s sister nod but all three of them knows that she’s not coming back to work there.
“But I need her to be our receptionist for now. I’ll decide her position later.” Donghaea didn’t even take a glance at her when he said that.
“But Hae. We agreed about this. Who’s going to help you with all your work and schedule?”
“I can handle that myself. She still need to prove herself to me and that’s final.”
“She won’t be able to if she didn’t work for you starting from now.” Donghae just wave his hand and disappears inside his room. Hyukjae nervously bites her lips.
That is a very bad start. She thought.
“Don’t worry. Like I said he always put on a tough test on new comer. He’ll get over it eventually. I promise. Me and Sungmin will be watching over you. And Donghae. If he happens to cross his line with his test on you.”
Hyukaje smile weakly at Sungmin’s sister. How much she hope for that to make her a little better but it doesn’t. He boss hates her. On her first day at work. The pain is so much worse than giving birth to Hana.
“You’ll pass through it. Trust me. He’s actually a nice person.” Hyukjae nod at the encouragement. The real test starts now. If she show her weakness from the beginning there’s no way she’ll be able to keep the job. Sungmin and her sister both have high hopes for her. She will never give up. Not without a fight.
“I have to go now. Since he want you to be receptionist let me escort you to the first floor.” Hyukjae put up a strong face and follow Sungmin’s sister to where she’s suppose to work. Sungmimn’s sister bid her goodbye and wishes her good luck. The receptionist who was sitting there was request by Donghae to take Sungmin’s sister place for a while. Hyukjae was left alone with a lot of files which was sent down from donghae.
Her first task is to learn more about the company and how the company works. She’ll be put on test by Donghae the next day. She closed her eyes when she sees five thick files in front of here. “Okay, Hyukjae. You can do this. Happy thoughts. Think about Hana. Hyukjae, fighting!!”
As if her first task wasn’t enough, Donghae decides to put a little more on her misery. On her first day, she felt more exhausted than when she first work with Sungmin. She has to run around inside and out of the office just to full filled Donghae’s request. “He’s so immature. I’m not giving up. You’ll see Donghae..” She said to herself through her gritted teeth.
