Summary: Desperate for Her daughter life, Hyukjae take a drastic decision to leave her boyfriend behind and start anew in a new city. She was hoping that her past will never haunt her. Her life starts to change drastically. She did find happiness but will she found love too?

Chapter 5
Since day one working with Donghae, Hyukjae never find peace. Not until she’s at home. Donghae really is poking on her patient limit. She is at the edge to burst out already. The only way she can forget about all of that is when she told Hana about her evil boss. Hana call him a monster.
Sungkyu keep on comforting Hyukjae whenever she hears about her complains. He cooks her extra food and makes her hot drinks. She pity the girl. Not only she has dozens of works that she need to take back home, sometime Hyukjae get home really late at night. Scared of Hyukjae’s safety, Sungkyu always call Hyukjae on her cell, just to make sure she’s alright.

It was during lunch time on one fine afternoon and Hyukjae went to Sungmin’s café to find some time alone. Actually that is a very first time when she is able to eat her lunch properly. Most of the time, Donghae always gives her new task on the lunch hour.
She had her head on the table while waiting for her food to arrive. Henry and Yuri accompany her during her lunch.
“You look miserable. What happen to you?” Yuri asks while placing Hyukjae’s order on the table.
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” Henry pats her back.
They have a decent conversation after months of not seeing each other. There are so much to share. Especially Henry to Hyukjae. He update all the news that he thought are important. Their talks ended when Sungmin approach Hyukjae’s table.
“Okay, you two need to go back to work now.” He said firmly. Yuri and Henry bid goodbye to Hyukjae and Sungmin sit right in front of her. hyukjae smile weakly at Sungmin and continue to eat. Half of her is blaming Sungmin for the misery she is having now. She knows Sungmin want the best for her. But she feels like it is better to work with Sungmin than Donghae.
“Are you angry at me? Your face kinda says it.”
Hyukjae sigh. “A little, maybe.” Sungmin laugh at her answer. “How can you laugh at time like this? Donghae is evil. I don’t believe he is human. My misery is his happiness.” Hyukjae start to complain. Sungmin laugh louder and make Hyukaje pout at him.
“Can I please come back and work with you? I’ll give him my resign letter today.” Hyukjae pout even more.
“Don’t you dare.” Sungmin answer back. His laughter died. “He’s just being Donghae. But once you get to know him, he is not that bad.”
“That’s what you say. Try to be me just for a day. You’ll know it.”
Sungmin sigh. “I haven’t be completely honest with you. There is another reason why I want you to work for him.” Hyukjae look up and meet with Sungmin suddenly serious face.
“Donghae isn’t like that before. He is this sweet and bubbly boy since his young age. He loves to do pranks on others. My sister is not an exception. He start to change when his father died and his mother remarry. The new man isn’t that nice to him. Once her mother gets pregnant again, it is like he never exists. That’s why he kinda hate family people. He’s lonely, that I can tell. He’ll come around eventually.And….”
Hyukjae feel he somewhat pity Donghae after she heard what Sungmin told her.
“I think you can change him for the better. When I first met you I know you’re the one for Donghae. I’m sorry. I know it is rude for me to do things like that since I don’t really know you very well. I don’t mean to take advantage of you or anything. It’s just that, my friend really need some help, my heart say you can help him. You can be angry at me for as long as you want. But can you please help him? Can you please help Donghae?” hyukjae play with the leftover in her plate.
“And he has been cheated all the time. People come after him for his money. There’s once he fall deeply in love with a girl, the girl was pregnant with someone else’s child. That happen even before she met Donghae. She’s just want to used him. That is another reason he hates single mothers. Donghae that I used to know really love children. He adore them so much.” Sungmin continue.
“I don’t know. I mean, he obviously hate me.” Hyukjae avoid looking into Sungmin’s eyes.
“He doesn’t hate you. If you really can’t take it anymore or if he out of the line with his rudeness, I’ll take you back. I’ll raise your salary when you’re back with me. Give it some more time, neh, Hyukjae.”
Hyukjae never really seen or hear Sungmin plead to anyone before. Sungmin that he knows is always manly, and strong and so charismatic.
“Okay. For you I’ll do it.”

Hyukjae kinda distracted by what Sungmin had said to her earlier. Is that really what happened to Donghae? She wonders how Donghae will be like if he didn’t change after what had happened to him.
“Hey, you’re not doing your job. You don’t earn anything unless you work hard for it.”
Here it goes again. The voice that annoys her for months now. She fakes a smile before she answer to her boss, Donghae. “I’m just thinking about how should I do the presentation that u ask me, Sir.”
Donghae smirk. “To me, It’s look like you’re sleeping with your eyes open. Your performance isn’t up to my expectation. Sungmin talk highly about you. So do Soo Young Noona. But all I can see is that you’re someone who will take advantage on others kindest. I’m not going to be added in that list.”
“Don’t you think you’re over judging me, Sir?”
Again smirking and leaning on Hyukjae’s desk, Donghae added. “Me? Over judging? Never. I’ve read your resume. I saw your education background. You didn’t even finish studying. The truth is you’re not qualified to be in this building. I don’t know what you do to my friends but I won’t let you do the same to me.” Donghae throws few more files on Hyukjae’s desk. “Read it and make a report out of it. I want them on my table tomorrow morning.”
This man is crazy. How can she finish all the work that had assigned to her in time? There are so much to read. Hyukjae have to hold herself from snapping back to Donghae.
“But, sir. I believe I need more time. A couple of days perhaps.”
“No. When I said tomorrow, I mean I must see this as soon as I step in my office. Got it? And don’t forget to get me breakfast as usual. I want them warm. On my table.”

If only Hyukjae can freeze time, she’ll be able to finish her work in time. She just finish reading two files when Donghae decide to bother her again. for her to bring him launch from a certain restaurant. And she have to do it in only half an hour.

Hyukjae decide to stay in the office and finish her job when Donghae call her.
“Take it home, Come with me.” Donghae said without looking back. “But sir, it’s already past office hours.”
“Pack your things up and come with me.” Donghaea said again. His tone is full of threat.
Hyukaje has to rush and pack her things along with the files and follow Donghae. Donghae didn’t even bother to help Hyukjae with all of her things. He just looks at her when she is struggling with the car door. “I guess I have to be home late again tonight.” Hyukjae sigh.
“Hurry. We’re running late.” After several time s of failure opening the door, Hyukjae finally succeded in opening the door with her things fall on the ground. Donghae continue to watch her from the side mirror. He have to admit that Hyukjae is sure one tough lady. He treated few of his former worker worst than Hyukjae. They only able to stay with him for a week the longest.
So with Hyukjae able to suck it up to his attitude for months now; he has to at least acknowledge her strong will and heart. To be honest, he already accepted Hyukjae. For now he is just having some fun. His intention is to see how further he can go until Hyukaje snap.
“Done. Thank you for not helping me at all.” Hyukjae said sarcastically.
The drive is quiet except for the music on Donghae’s radio. Once in a while, Donghae will eye Hyukjae from the front mirror. “What happen to you? Sungmin told me he didn’t really know about your life.”
Hyukjae look away. “I rather we don’t talk about that, sir.” But Donghae refuse to let go on the topic. “How can I trust you to work with me if I don’t have your knowledge of your background. What if you try to do something evil to me and my company?”
Relax Hyukjae. He’s the boss. Smile. “I have a boring life. That should make it.”
“Wow. It shows. You must not from the city. I can tell from the way you dress for work. So old fashion.” Deep breath. Calm down Hyukjae. He’s not worth it.”Maybe.” That is all Hyukaje answer.
They arrive at Sungmin café. “What are we doing here?”
“Business meeting.” Donghae drag her inside to the VIP area. Hyukjae have to hold on tight to all of her belonging because Donghae is walking really fast. Sungmin arch an eyebrow when he sees Donghae and Hyukjae coming to his café. From Hyukjae’s face, he knows that Hyukjae is not happy about it.
In the VIP room, they met with Donghae new client. Donghae always set up meeting in Sungmin’s café. Donghae told Hyukjae to write all the important stuff during the meeting and sometimes he will ask for Hyukjae’s opinion.
While on Hyukjae, this is the first time DOnghae act like she is someone important to the company. That her opinion does matter. Before, everything that she said will be thrown aside by Donghae. Somehow she feels proud and maybe DOnghae is starting to crack his wall a little. That is what she thought.
The meeting continue for about an hour. Then they have their dinner there. After seal the agreement and contract, Donghae’s client leave them alone in that room. Donghae was staring at Hyukjae when they are left alone. A knock at the door saved Hyukjae from feeling more uncomfortable.
“How’s everything?” It was Sungmin. He takes a seat next to Hyukjae.
“Everything is going well.” Donghae finally smile. Hyukjae can’t help but to be awed for a moment.
“How’s you two? Okay?” Donghae shrug Sungmin’s question and take a sip of his drink. “Hae, stop torturing her so much.”
An awkward silent fill the room after that.
“What did she do to you that you trust her so much? I don’t see any different with her and other women. They are all the same. Once they get what they want, they’ll run away.”
Sungmin smile and pat Hyukjae’s shoulder before she answer Donghae’s question. “She’s different. She work for me longer than she works for you. I know her better. She’s great.” Hyukjae smile and she really appreciate Sungmin for what he said.
“Yeah, right. She didn’t even work with you for a year. I bet she has something under her sleeves. You better becareful.”
Okay. That is enough. “Oh.” Hyukjae laugh mockingly at Donghae. “I’m sorry, sir. But why do you hate me that much. What have I ever done to you? I believe we haven’t met before. Why are you doing this to me?” Hyukjae just can’t take it. How can Donghae talk about her like she is piece of a trash?
“I’m sorry if I haven’t met your expectation. All these months I’ve been working with you, I work my ass off. I didn’t even complain to you. Not even once. I take it all the insult that you have thrown to me. But don’t you think you’re a little over board? Not little. Way too much overboard. If you’re not happy with me then, have me fired. Or I’ll submit my resign later tomorrow. Anything that make you happy, sir. But I can tell you this. I am one of the hell best employees you’ll ever have. Because I always work hard. I always do my job seriously. I never give up easily. I learn fast. I can totally cooperate with you because it is not worth it to join your little childish game. I know myself better than anyone else. You can step on me, spat on me. But I’m never going to let you do that to me anymore. If you lose me, the lost is yours.”
With her final speech, Hyukjae storm out of the VIP room and get her ride home in a taxi. Finally she let it out of her heart. It’s not enough though. She has so much to say. She let out a heavy sigh.

“She’s right, you know.” Sungmin said as soon as Hyukjae can’t be seen. Donghae laugh out loud. “I know. I just need to hear it from her.” He said
“Stop what you’re doing. She is one of the great person. Can’t you see it already?”
“It’s just fun, Sungmin.” Sungmin shakes his head. “A little more and all will be done. she still have to hand me all the reports.”
Donghae laugh again. “Stop treating everything like a game. grow up will you?” Sungmin whack on Donghae’s head earning a big “Ouch” from him. “That is for hurting her.”

Hana happily open up the door for her mom. “Mommy….” She chipped happily. “Mommy??” Hyukjae walk in with a sad face.
“Hana is….” Sungkyu didn’t continue with what she want to say when she see the trouble look on Hyukjae’s face. Hana is sitting on Hyukjae lap by now and Sungkyu is sitting right in front of her.
“Bad day at work?” She ask and Hyukjae nod. “I think I’m going to be fired.” Hyukjae said.
Hana gives her mommy a hug. “Is the monster make mommy sad?” She ask; resting her head on Hyukjae’s shoulder. Hyukjae sigh. “He make mommy angry." She answer her.
“i’m going to tell Sungmin uncle. So he can get angry with the monster.” Hana added. Hyukjae chuckles at her words.
“Don’t. because mommy don’t want Sungmin uncle become a mmonster. He’s contagious.”
“I’m going to hug mommy until mommy feel better. Oh.” Hana climb down of Hyukjae lap and take her teddy bear, place it on Hyukjae lap and then climb up again. “Mr bear want to give you a hug too so mommy can feel better.” Hyukjae squeeze Hana and the bear in a tight hug.
Then like always she decided to tickle Hana.
It doesn’t take a long time to make her mood lighten up again. Not when she is with her Hana. Sungkyu who is watching from the side join them both. After few moment playing with Hana, Sungkyu ask her to have a shower and change to her pajamas so they can have dinner together and then rest.
It was a long day for Hyukjae and she pray tomorrow will be better. But first, she really need to finish her report and submit it to Donghae. Then she’ll hand in her resignation letter.

“I’m going to hug mommy until mommy feel better. Oh.” Hana climb down of Hyukjae lap and take her teddy bear, place it on Hyukjae lap and then climb up again. “Mr bear want to give you a hug too so mommy can feel better.” Hyukjae squeeze Hana and the bear in a tight hug.
Then like always she decided to tickle Hana.
It doesn’t take a long time to make her mood lighten up again. Not when she is with her Hana. Sungkyu who is watching from the side join them both. After few moment playing with Hana, Sungkyu ask her to have a shower and change to her pajamas so they can have dinner together and then rest.
It was a long day for Hyukjae and she pray tomorrow will be better. But first, she really need to finish her report and submit it to Donghae. Then she’ll hand in her resignation letter.
