If you're using the type of resin that you add a few drops of catalysts then you're not using enough catalyst. If it's a half and half it might just be a bad batch of resin. The dye should make it set faster, not get gooey. Unless it's the wrong kind of dye for that resin... :S

I'm pretty sure I have the correct dye, and I put in what I thought was the right amount of catalyst. On try #3, I'll try adding a couple more drops of catalyst. Do you think my mold release spray may have anything to do with it? I kinda saturate the mold with it and rub it with my gloved fingers to ensure good coverage.

Yeah-- I think I found the problem being my mold release. I think I'm using too much. When I wash the "jewel", it tends to do much, much better.

Ahh~ that happens a lot to me. n.n; it's like someone sneezed on it! D:> But it's just the mold release. if it's a silicone mold you don't need to mold release it every time. If it comes out with scratches you can sand it and then coat it in a thin layer of gloss to make it re-shiny.
