Ginny was eating breakfast in the Great Hall, or rather trying to shove some toast down, when Luna came skipping up to her. Ginny nearly choked on her toast at the sight of her girlfriend. Luna had somehow charmed her hair to have deep red streaks throughout the dirty blonde, and she was dressed from head to toe in borrowed Gryffindor gear. The red and gold snitch covered pajama bottoms were not something Ginny thought she’d ever see outside of Luna’s bedroom. However, she had to admit that they went well with the white t-shirt that Luna had charmed to flash “Go Ginny!” repeatedly in bright red letters. Upon closer inspection, Ginny noticed that it said “and the other Griffindors, too” in smaller non-flashing golden letters beneath her name.

“Morning Luna,” Ginny greeted her with a smile. She slid over on the bench and made room for the other girl.

“Good morning?” Luna scoffed, reaching for some toast and piling eggs on top of it, “It’s a fantastic morning! It’s the morning that my lovely girlfriend is going to lead her team to victory! What could be better than that?” She raised an eyebrow at poor Colin, who seemed ready to point out something that could, in fact, be better.

“Oh, don’t jinx us,” Ginny said with a laugh. She took a sip of her pumpkin juice and grinned at her girlfriend. “We don’t want to give Slytherin the advantage, do we? Ever since they lost Malfoy, they’ve been quite good.”

“I’ve already jinxed them twelve times this morning!” Luna cried out. She gestured with her toast, and Ginny moved back, fearful of getting a lapful of scrambled eggs. “I’ve told every Slytherin I’ve bumped into in the hallways that their team is going to win, hands down. If that’s not a jinx, I don’t know what is. Besides, how can they concentrate when you’re on the pitch? Your beauty is distracting.” Ginny blushed and leaned over, gently pressing her lips against Luna’s. The kiss tasted like eggs and pumpkin juice, but it was perfect. There was nothing like Luna’s overwhelming presence to bring someone a little confidence.

The first thing Ginny saw when she walked onto the pitch was Luna standing up in the stands and frantically waving her arms. She pointed to the sign that she had made that read “Gryffindor Rocks, Slytherin Smells Like Old Socks!” Ginny waved back, remembering how dull her life had been pre-Luna. A few of her teammates noticed Luna as well and grinned at her. Luna had become a sort of unofficial mascot in the Gryffindor locker room. They had yet to lose a game when she was in the stands cheering them on. Thankfully, she had retired the roaring lion hat. Some things were a bit too embarrassing to put up with.

Ginny kicked up into the air and went flying as soon as Madam Hooch blew her whistle. She caught the quaffle with ease and flew towards the Slytherin goal. She faked left and then threw right, cheering as the ball sailed through the hoop. She took a moment to high five Dennis before rushing back into the fray. Every so often, she would risk a glance at the crowd and seek out Luna’s familiar smile. The blonde spent the entire game on her feet, much to the annoyance of those seated behind her. It didn’t matter, though. Luna was going to cheer on her girl as hard and as loudly as possible. Everyone knew that by now.

It wasn’t until she was walking back to the locker room that Ginny let the feeling sink in. She had just helped her team with the Quidditch Cup. She broke out in a grin and put an extra bounce into her step. She was almost to the door when she was almost knocked to the ground by an overactive Luna. “You won!” Luna shouted into her ear. The Ravenclaw crushed their lips together and pushed Ginny back against the wall of the broom shed. Neither paid any attention to the other players, even those who let out whistles and shouts. All Ginny could feel was Luna’s lips and body pressed against her. She slid her hands down Luna’s side, pulling her closer. She was tired and sweaty and probably was too dirty to be snogging, but she didn’t care. She had just won, and Luna had been a part of that.

Ginny broke the kiss and beamed at Luna. “Thanks for being my personal cheerleader,” she said with a giggle. She hugged Luna close to her, continuing to ignore the catcalls of her fellow teammates.

“Well, isn’t it muggle custom for the star player to date the head cheerleader? I had to make sure I cheered the hardest and the loudest, lest I lose your affections,” Luna replied. She smirked at Ginny, darting forward to sneak another quick kiss.

“There’s no chance of that, Luna,” Ginny said. She pulled Luna into another kiss. The showers could wait, she had a cheerleader to reward.
