Happy Birthday, Mica?

I want to write a post gushing about my little boy on his first birthday. The changes in the first year are just amazing. A year ago he had a lot in common with a doll. I'm so sorry y'all are feeling bad! I can't remember -- did you get Norovirus last season, or were you out of town? I'm curious because if this is Norovirus, most of CoHo has had it already, but on the other hand, it's highly contagious for 72 hours after the last symptom.

In any case, sorry we won't get to see you tonight. I always enjoy hanging out with you guys. And happy birthday to Mica!

We did get norovirus, though we also got off easy compared to some. Does the immunity carry from year to year? I sort of assumed there was enough mutation for the strains to be different every year--kind of like the flu.

With norovirus in mind, we asked about contagion risks at the hospital (Between puking more or less constantly and puking up a little blood, we decided it was worth a trip to the ER Wednesday night to get anti-vomiting medicine and a couple liters of IV fluids in me.) and they said it was hard to know what virus I had, so it was hard to guess how long it would last.

With any luck we'll be back in CoHo visiting mode next week, and will see you at the club meal. It's been hard spending so much time at home this week--Mica is going seriously stir crazy.

Ouch! That sounds horrible. And breastfeeding on top of it... you must've needed an IV! Glad you're feeling better now.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Mica.

A whole year. Amazing. And to think, I haven't even met the little monster :) I'm sorry to hear that all of you are feeling a little green, but I'm glad to hear that birthday boy is the one exception. You've got to bake a cake -- how else will you get the baby-face-in-the-cake picture for Mica to be embarrassed about when he's 16?

Hope Mica's day goes well and that the cat feels better.

I did end up baking gingerbread cupcakes, since ginger is good for a tummy-ache, right? I couldn't resist cake photos and Raine is old enough to know candles and singing are required on birthdays.

oh my! I can't believe it's been a year! Happy birthday Mica!

Also, I am so sorry to hear you've all been that sick - that's awful.

Lastly, I am going to be really sad if you were here in Portland this weekend and I didn't know and we didn't meet up!! I have been here in PDX since Thursday night and am here until Monday night (the 10th). Call me on my cell if you are still around and you happen to check email and get this in time!
