The best nest

We put in an offer on a house over the weekend and it was accepted today. I'm pretty stoked. The house is quirky, but it is large and in the (fairly limited) area we wanted. The inspection is on Thursday, and assuming everything goes well, we'll be closing near the end of July. House hunting/buying is a very bursty activity, with nothing going ( Read more... )

Nope. We looked into CoHo, and are "friends of CoHo" which means we hang out with them and Stony's on their landscaping committee and stuff. We decided against CoHo for a handful of reasons including the price, and concerns about private space. It turns out just as well after all since we're going to have a baby right around the time that CoHo is supposed to be ready for move in, and infants and moving don't mix.

We really like the people though, and the limited area where we want to buy's primary criteria is easy walking distance to CoHo, since I envision myself spending a lot of time there next year.

Hmmm, judging by the losse ends strewn about the house, my secret seems to be being able to push projects to functionality (or nearly so, say 90% completion), and then being lucky enough to have a spouse that is willing to live without the last 10%.

I've been told that the kitchen will be different. I think that's a good idea (although it has reached the dangerous point of full functionality, sans a pesky wall cabinet that remains unmounted...)

Happy to hear about the house, and thanks for the clarification on the CoHo, I'd been wondering...

It was so nice meting you and your family at the ABL party. I just wanted to say that I had so much fun with Raine. Even though I didn't get to talk to you or your husband very much, it is clear that you are both great parents. I've added you to my lj, hope that's ok. Hope your trip home went ok as well.

The ABL is not always condusive to long conversation, but it was very nice to meet you. You and Dom seem very good for each other with is always nice to see. Raine had a wonderful time dancing and singing with the two of you.

Yay for a new house in the area you wanted! We are very happy for you. Alas, we have no tips for how to complete projects. Our only tip for not living in partially-finished-project-hell is not to start them...
