My car's original factory-installed battery all but bit the dust. (Well, I guess this was technically in '08 but I got a new one put in on December 31st so that's close enough for me.)

I fell on my laptop while it was open, cracking the entire LCD screen from side to side, and bending the whole top lid a little bit. The computer part of it still

I broke the screen in my toshiba and after asking/looking around, it was cheaper for me to buy a brand new sony vaio then it was to replace/fix my screen. Go figure huh.

Yeah, that's what my dad seemed to think would end up being the case. He's a computer repair/networking guy, so I'm letting him do the research for me, haha. I might also ask a couple computer repair places in Portland, too, before I make any final decisions.

if your own dad can't find you a deal, then you're not going to find one. it's honestly cheaper to buy a new laptop than it is to fix a screen, trust me! I went to every single place I could because I really loved my toshiba. and like yours, there's nothing wrong with it except the screen is cracked. you could always just sell it for parts.

I LOVE my vaio, like love love love! if it could get me off, I'd let it.

Yeah, mine has a jack for an external monitor. I'm using Matt's computer now, which isn't in the best shape either, but it's better than nothing. :) I suppose I could always use his monitor--I don't have too much excess money right now, so I'm kind of dreading having to pay for repairs or a new computer. And the hard drive does work fine. I dunno, I'll figure something out. Thanks for the comment. :)
