A trend I've noticed in "modern rock" type music that sort of drives me nuts is people singing songs that are ... subtly explicit (is that a total oxymoron?) about sex acts. It started with that Nickelback song: "I like your pants around your feet / I like the dirt that's on your knees / I like the way you still say 'please' / while you're lookin'

UGH! all respect and like for that band just went straight to hell. (the other lyrics were bad enough but that's just the last straw) This is why I can't listen to the radio anymore. You have to hunt carefully online for the stuff that isn't filled with misogyny and general hatred -- 'cause that is pretty much all they play on the radio.
People always talk about metal/rock making plants wither as if it is the genre, the loudness and rhythm that does it -- but I say it's the hatred in the lyrics and the very conception of the songs. I'm really curious as to what a study of the effect of positive-lyriced metal vs. hate metal on plants would show.
