raunchy songs

A trend I've noticed in "modern rock" type music that sort of drives me nuts is people singing songs that are ... subtly explicit (is that a total oxymoron?) about sex acts. It started with that Nickelback song: "I like your pants around your feet / I like the dirt that's on your knees / I like the way you still say 'please' / while you're lookin' ( Read more... )

music, sex, lyrics

I never considered the Nickelback one to be subtle in any way, beyond the, "hey wait, did they just say..." sort of way.

None of them hold a candle to Ain't Nothing But Mammals. :)

"I like my hands around your neck" ?!?!?!?

UGH! all respect and like for that band just went straight to hell. (the other lyrics were bad enough but that's just the last straw) This is why I can't listen to the radio anymore. You have to hunt carefully online for the stuff that isn't filled with misogyny and general hatred -- 'cause that is pretty much all they play on the radio.

People always talk about metal/rock making plants wither as if it is the genre, the loudness and rhythm that does it -- but I say it's the hatred in the lyrics and the very conception of the songs. I'm really curious as to what a study of the effect of positive-lyriced metal vs. hate metal on plants would show.

Such lyrics aren't playful. There's no artistry here, or feelings to sing about -it's just players playing for players. A term I dislike, but there you have it.

What appeals to me about that kind of music is that it is fun to laugh at and revile. I wish that I had Fuse so I could watch these videos. Though on the other hand I don't, because it crushes my spirit so.

This one's funny:

Go That Far.
