Thank you, I really do hope it looks good when I finish it. I want it to be perfect for him so I'm being careful as I go. There are some great sites online where you can learn. Start with the "long cast on", the "knit" stitch and "casting off". From there you can make a basic scarf. Once you've got that down learn the "purl" stitch. After that you can use patterns since they mainly use those two stitches!
