Have you ever marveled at the sheer abundance of words available in the English language for describing shit? I can't think of anything else so gifted with such a poetic cornucopia of choices. Just off the top of my head, and limited to non-euphemistic words alone (e.g. no #2, logs, loafs, etc.), I get the following: poop, crap, shit, scat, feces, ( Read more... )

No, I can't think of a perfect match. As a noun, the closest I can think of is "affection". As a pet name, maybe "dear"? "Sweetheart" and "honey" I think would be considered euphemisms. And as a verb, "care for" does not even come close.

In Tagalog we have at least two words that take the verb form for "love." As a noun/pet name, I've come up with five non-euphemistic substitutes off the top of my head.

Maybe Filipinos are better lovers? ;)

adoration, infatuation, lust, betrothed, er.. uh..

that's off the top of my head. I'm sure thesaurus.com would be an assist, but the scale tips heavily in favor of shit.

ha, I'm afraid we have short term memories nowadays, in order to find equivalents, we'd have to go to something of the length of a Shakespearian soliloquy.

But my quest is to find the male equivalent of bitch and cunt and .....
