Have you ever marveled at the sheer abundance of words available in the English language for describing shit? I can't think of anything else so gifted with such a poetic cornucopia of choices. Just off the top of my head, and limited to non-euphemistic words alone (e.g. no #2, logs, loafs, etc.), I get the following: poop, crap, shit, scat, feces, manure, excreta, stool, dung, guano, turd, and dookie. And, hell, I'm sure I'm missing some.
As an interesting comparison, can you think of even a single perfect, non-euphemistic synonym for love? No? Me neither. Guess we know what's culturally important to us. =)
