One More Thing Cut from OotP

This post is dedicated to Emma, because she really wanted me to set the record straight on something that infuriated her about the newest Harry Potter movie.  Not plots that disappeared or the way character motivations were somewhat altered or how some plot holes were left unfilled (like how did the Order show up at the Ministry -- because Snape ( Read more... )

A) the hair does make him look older.
B) I'm not sure 7 days is gonna change anything.

B) Oh yes it will. I'll still be too old for him, but he won't be jailbait any more.

I can't believe you spoiled his hairstyle for those of us who haven't seen the movie yet. *is professionally offended* ;)

I didn't consider it so much of a spoiler as I did a way to let you down easy.

Absolutely not. I like that it got cut short in this one. Makes him seem more focused and serious.

I need to read Deathly Hallows before I can come up with my dream director for that one :)

My wife may impart physical harm on you when you arrive in August for that comment. You've been warned ;)

Have any of your dream directors been selected yet? David Yates came out of nowhere (I think he'd done some BBC stuff before).

I wonder if Columbus wants to hop back on board? He wouldn't be my choice by a long shot but he was the one who shot the first two and he produced PoA. I'd be surprised if either Cuaron or Newell direct it but you never know.

Guillermo del Toro would have been my dream director for HBP if Yates wasn't already signed, but before that I guess I wasn't really thinking about it enough to have a dream director.

I think I read that both Columbus and Cuaron said they might be interested in doing another one. I'm a bit wary of Columbus coming back, but Cuaron would always be welcome.

Ah, good call. Guillermo del Toro could've done a great Harry Potter. I doubt he'll end up doing it, but that would've been great.

I don't remember if there was a specific reference in book 5 or not but I definitely don't remember Rowling mention anything about it being altered either. Back in the first few books, she gave the impression that no matter what Harry did to his hair, cut it or whatever, it always grew back into the mop we know and love.

I do remember that James Potter kept ruffling his hair to make sure it looked like he'd just jumped off a broomstick (when Harry went into Snape's Pensieve).
