I was doing some...ah, research, and revisited the
Women in Refrigerators website. I don't know if it's the fact that it's over 10 years since that list was posted, but I dug a little deeper this time and read some of the writer/creator responses and...wow. It's kind of appalling. I'm particularly disappointed

Wonderella is not very narrative-y, but she certainly kicks butts.
In real-world-comics, "Nextwave" was weird and goofy fun, and it had three female to one male and one robot male main characters.
I'm not all that up on mainstream superhero comics, I'm afraid.

I'm not as up on them as I used to be, and find myself generally more interested in things like DC's Vertigo line and Dark Horse's stuff. (Also, Joe Hill's "Locke & Key".)
Alas, I have a deep found love for superheroes, and hate to see things play out like this.

("Ex Machina" and the Astro City line are both awesome in a generalized way, and Astro City sometimes has kick-butt female protags. Just not all the time, and most of the grand epics focus on males.)
