No Stars for Suspect eReviewers

I was reading some "reviews" over at Amazon of the latest Stephen King novella collection...wow. You know, I realize that Kindle people like to get their books cheaper than the hard copy version, but writing a review about the price of the book, instead of, you know - an actual review - really should result in that review getting flagged or ( Read more... )

Good to know! I might actually wait that long - although, at that point, I might be waiting for a newer generation. Egads, the choices!

I wish I could afford the iPad even with a nice price drop, should that happen. The Nook color looks really great. The Kindle is cheaper, though, and Amazon has ebooks at a better price than B&N. I don't really care about a touch screen.

If I get one, it'll be a collective birthday/Christmas effort from multiple people. Because yeah, it is expensive.

My least favorite review:

"This looks like a great read, but I will not pay 7$ for 200 pages of story. Give me a break!"

A review for a book the reviewer hasn't read. (Also, the reviewer can't count.) At least I got two stars for that one.

Ugh. How frustrating. Yeah, I can see why that's your least favorite review. (Kind of funny that the reviewer gave you two stars based on the price.)

Looking at that icon makes me want to reread Norse Code :)

Sadly, the off-topic review is some sort of Amazon tradition. e.g., the 1 star review because the shipment arrived late. About the only thing you can do, I think, is mark the review unhelpful. (And yes, the sense of entitlement is astonishing.)

As for the iPad, I suspect Apple will announce a new model early next year. (Obviously, if you wait long enough, they will eventually announce a new model. I'm just saying it's likely to be sooner rather than later. If they're on a yearly cycle, then it ought to be April.) I like mine a lot, but the next iteration will probably be even better.

Yeah, I've seen similar off-topic reviews before, but never so many. (I guess because it's Stephen King.) There really should be a button for that, though.

And the new model thing is another head scratcher! Like you say, there will always be a new model, but I don't know if I should wait for a new one or go in for it sooner (at hopefully a less expensive price). Decisions decisions. Hrm.

I still can't decide if I really want one. You know me...I go towards technology kicking and screaming.

Yeah, I certainly hear that. I think it'll actually allow me to read more stuff that I want to, but yeah.
