It's the annual Strange Horizons fund drive. Strange Horizons being maybe the most influential online market for SF/F stories. They pay their authors well and they run solely on a donation basis and TODAY ONLY the one and only John Scalzi is matching any donations made up to $500. So if you have some extra money, give it to them today. Scalzi will ( Read more... )

The new TV show had nowhere else to go, so some sort of movie connected to that would have been disappointing anyway.

I don't really know why they'd want to bother with another new adaptation at this point though... plenty of other stuff available if they really don't want to deal with something new.

BTW, did you get to the end of the new BSG series? Can't remember if you posted about it or not.

Yeah, I don't know why they'd do a new adaption right now either. 5-10 years from now? Sure. But the memories of Kara Thrace and Bill Adama (among others) will be kind of hard for core fans to shake, I think.

Still, I am curious.

I have not seen the end (although I've heard bits about it). I will see it, though. I like the show enough to see it through. But it's competing with other DVD shows like The Wire, True Blood, and Pushing Daisies...

(Haven't seen Wolverine yet either...)

To us Brits, the NHS is like a membner of the family. It may not be perfect, and Lord knows we complain about it, a lot, but outsiders bad-mouth it at their peril :)

So it's like any other member of the family? :)

Another re-imagining of BSG? The timing seems weird, since Caprica is about to start up in a few months. Starting a whole new BSG universe seems like a really shitty way to cross-promote.

I'm not sure how much of a cross-promotion it will be, since it seems like this new version is trying to distnace itself as much from the Ron Moore TV show as possible.

Which I can kind of understand, except for why would you want to distance yourself from Kara Thrace, Bill Adama, Laura Roslin, and others?

Carlos dragged himself along the dirt, clutching his abdomen, blood welling up through his fingers. He was beaten. The American was out there. Toying with him.

"Where ARE YOU!" screamed Carlos, his voice echoing through the ruined warehouse.

Out in the darkness, Carlos saw the brief flash of a lit cigarette, and with it a brief outline of a lean man strolling towards him, sniper rifle in hand. Then darkness again. Footsteps. And... a strange, friendly tune, interspersed with whistling...

"It's such a good feeling / A very good feeling / The feeling you know that we're friends."
