If You Liked the X-Files TV show, Check out I Want To Believe

Watching the X-Files: I Want to Believe yesterday was a lot like watching a pretty solid 2-hour X-Files episode.  It's almost as if Fox (20th Century, not Spooky -- we'll get to him later) said to Chris Carter, "Hey we want to revive this show, only without the mythology.  Here's $30 million."  And Chris Carter banged out a pretty good made-for-TV ( Read more... )

Ha! I didn't think about the resemblance before, but from the pics I've seen, you'd be a pretty great stunt double. You just have to work at the scowling.

Let me know what you think of the movie! Part of me wonders if it will do better overseas than it's doing here.

I just got back from seeing it. (Drove the Bastard, btw - it is now street legal with Illinois license plates) I agree with most of your review. I really enjoyed the film. Yet looking back already, I too question why Fox was convinced to return on the premise. Had it been some freaky monster, or even the return/escape of one of those he locked up earlier, perhaps.

It was good to see them work well together on the screen, and I can't recall them, but know I laughed at a couple of one liners. Although I do think they might have been trying a little too hard at the beginning to say, "look, it really is keeping true to the X-Files," with the blatant display of sunflower seeds or pencils in the ceiling.

All I know is that I was the only one in the theater, and at one point, thought I would love to see the whole series this way. Giant screen, great sound, and myself, or perhaps a few friends who would also appreciate it.

It's one of those rare movies -- the further away I get from it, the more I dig it. Even if it was very much just a double episode. I would love to see a few more like it. Fingers crossed.

Glad to hear the bastard is in fine form!
