Indy, I Love You!!!

I do love me some Indiana Jones.  The short, spoiler free version of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is that it was good.  Not great.  I'm not even sure I'd call it pretty good.  Some of the scenes in the movie completely kicked ass, and I was surprised by some of what did work really well for me.  Mostly, Shia LaBeouf surprised the hell out of me, ( Read more... )

I loved the poisoned dart thing myself. Very Indy. There was a lot to love, and a lot to roll one's eyes over. But, like you, I did enjoy it over all. It's INDY, for goodness sake!

Honestly? That was almost as good as the gun vs. sword thing from Raiders or the "No Ticket" line from Last Crusade.

Yeah, despite my frustrations, I find myself looking forward to seeing it again, at least on DVD.

I need to rent Raiders of the Lost Ark. I really, really need to bask in it's glory once again.

You should. We should do a coast-to-coast Indy marathon. I'd love to see them all again.

My biggest complaint was with Ray Winstone's character. After he doublecrossed Indy he SHOULD NOT have been allowed to rejoin the group.

That being said, I kind of like the fact that they allude to a past history, making you wonder and imagine what the story was. They did this beautifully in "Raiders" with Indy & Marion's past history concerning her father. I think maybe they did it one time too many though, making you feel like you've missed out on something major.

Doublecrossed or triplecrossed? But I digress, it wasn't so much his character that bothered you, but the other characters' reactions to him?

I was definitely okay with them alluding to some of the past. When Indy looked at the picture of his dad and Marcus and said "It's been a hard year," that was cool. I would've liked to have see more than just allusion (although this bothered me less with Oxley than the others).

I liked how they made the CIA the bad guys along with the KGB. The OSS--THOSE were the good guys! The true heroes. They had to be--Indy was one of them. /g/

And yeah, I wouldn't have let him back into the group, ESPECIALLY after he confesses to being CIA! I did enjoy Indy's line, "What does this make you, a (counts on fingers) triple agent?"
Cute.

That was a pretty good line, but it was a particularly excellent delivery :)

Also, "Good thing we're not grave robbers then."
