Huh... Interesting

When prophetic preacher and Messianic Jew Scott Holtz came to Open Heavens a few months ago, (as well as on Juanita Bynums show) he blew the shofar (a Jewish instrument of battle and jugment) and prophecied that God was about to bring judgment on the sleeping/dead churches of North America and that in the coming months we were going to see big name ( Read more... )

If you're going to be leading an evangelical Bible following church, homosexual activity -in fact any sexuality outside of marriage is an obvious no.

While I don't really agree with the post I don't think Kristine's point was that this was bad merely because homosexuality was involved. She'd probably have said the same thing if it was a pastor who frequented a heterosexual prostitute for the same length of time.

Melytha should have something interesting to say about this.

There have always been "corrupt" leaders in the church, and there have always been these kind of judgment prophecies being made by these types of people. You have only mentioned one church leaders, so where are the shockingly large number of them as per the prophecy? How many months is "a few months ago"? and how many months is "in the coming months"?

they're coming. The pastor at Open Heavens echoed the same prophecy last night. If the prophecy is true, there will be more exposed for sin, even this year.

Melissa's denomination correctly assesses the dead and comatose in the north american church. But they don't believe that God can do a work of clean-up repent and revive. They think the church is dead and buried and finished forever on earth. Yeah should be interesting if she says something.

Also Pastor Jack specifically mentioned Canada last night. I'm not sure if he said the next one would be in Canada but he did say that God was going to do the same house-cleaing here. I'm watching to see.

And while it may mean something completely different to you, to her the same thing may just be further proof that the church is the wrong place to be.
To some people all of these natural disasters that are occuring are proof that the environment is sick - and we need to pay more attention to what we are doing to the world,
and to others it is God's judgment on the sinful earth, and God's call for people to repent, etc or something like that.

a. certain things happen again and again and the fact that someone predicts something that has a high chance of happening statistically does not make them a prophet.
b. sometimes things happen and one person sees it as proof for whatever they want, while another person will see the exact same event as proof of something entirely different.

my point anyway is of course I'm skeptical... you are all excited cause some guy (or two) made a prophecy about LEADERS falling in the next few months.... a few months ago! and finally ONE has hit the news.

Hmm I dont know about the prophecies. I believe in the prophetic, but people who speak of Gods judgement on the church etc make me cringe a bit, because I am not sure that is how God/Jesus handles the church. I absolutely believe he brings sin to light and things of this nature but to "bring judgment" is a strong thing to say. God does judge for sure, but we must also remember that Jesus' blood stands between us and the sin he judges. Satan sure likes to accuse and tell us that we stand in condemnation and judgment though ( ... )

Read Revelations. The letters to the seven churches are quite revealing. Here are a few examples: (emphais mine)

Rev 2:3-5 to the church of Ephesus:
"3You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. 5Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place."

Rev 2: 19- to the church in Thyatia
"I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.
20Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. 21I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. 22So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, ( ... )
